    @Kirwan yeah not like the no.1 rated try on that video I posted is an example of that eh...😁

    Highlights show Howlett taking the outside break over and over again. Bridge doesn't really do that, he's great in a gap. Also shows what I was talking about with Howlett's ability to pop up when needed.

    Ironically, it starts with Howlett at 15 then ending up on the wing, which I think will be the opposite for Bridge.

    @Kirwan yep true. .who knows what highlights will show if he spends as long in the ABs. I remember being similarly unconvinced on Howlett at this stage in his career.

    As do hatricks against Australia and trys against England, both when they were good teams. Are you really suggesting Howlett wasn't a great winger?

    this is getting ridiculous. Bridge will be on Jeff Wilson's level next

    Dougie was great. Great at being at the right place at the right time. Fucking quick. Could absolutely skin a guy on the outside, and wasn't afraid to. And did it at the highest level for years and years with massive consistency.

    Favourites were the hat trick against Oz in a Bledisloe, calling for the Ali Williams kick, and skinning Robinson

    Doug Howlett had serious gas, excellent vision and super soft hands. He is the ABs record Test try scorer. Comparing George Bridge to such a great player is a bit insane.

    Wtf? Where did I suggest that? Yeah saying I'm unconvinced on Bridge in his first season or two like I was for Howlett is suggesting Howlett wasn't a great winger. Good one. I get it, he's from Auckland so can't be talked about in anything other than god terms.

    @sparky yet no one called me up on suggesting Clarke goes through tackles in a similar style to Jonah. Wonder why that was...

    Here;

    "longevity and not coming late to the ABs helps"

    The implication being that he only got the record because he started young and stayed in the team. Which of course ignores why he was selected early, and why he stayed in the team. Not to mention the quality of opposition he was scoring against.

    You can lose the chip as well, we are just having a conversation about a player.

    Remember all those "new Jonah Lomu"s who turned out to be nothing like as devastating as the great man. George Bridge is a bit like that but substitute in thr words Doug Howlett for Jonah.
