Waikato and Taranaki do traditionally play each other in a preseason game so that could be happening this Sat in Oto, or somewhere halfway.

@Stargazer Isi Tuúngafasi is a good acquisition.

With none of Wyatt Crockett, Tim Perry, Atu Moli or Kane Hames available this year, we were a bit light at loosehead prop! 🙂

Maybe we swapped him for Knewstubb!

Also good to see Segner featuring.

@Stargazer I believe he was signed by Canterbury, so guess they loaned him...

@Nepia @Number-10 I can remember going up from Wellington to that game in Palmy. Was bitterly cold that night and we absolutely thrashed them by about 60 points. Made the drive back to Wellington somewhat satisfying. The attendance was about 200 and there were only about ten of us spectators on the terrace side of the ground, just the one decked out in Black & White. Didn't have a seat cushion so the nether regions were somewhat chilled from the concrete! (Oh the days before the plastic seat bottom things were put into place) All things considered a very rewarding evening.
There was a little bit more as well in that HB was the only undefeated team all season. Played two won two, the other game was against either Poverty Bay or the Bush. No doubt thaqt NUmber 10 will be able to search through his records and confirm that significant accomplishment..

Ta$man squad to play Canterbury in Hanmer Springs below. Surprised to see Isi Tu'ungafasi in that squad; didn't someone on the Fern say he'd play for Canterbury?

    Isa Tu'ungafasi Loaned to Ta$man

Timoci Tavatavanawai is one to watch played for the Crusaders development side earlier in the year before covid.

@Stargazer didn't realise that Dwayne Polataivao was heading down there.

He's been on our DrivingMaul show several times recently and didn't say anything!!!

I wasn't far off with the venue. Now to find a Waikato team.

Can't wait for that CRFU Facebook page live feed. It's awesome how you can't cast it despite the chrome cast symbol being on the screen, and the subtitled commentary is a real treat too.

@shark He's a good player, and part of the NZ sevens squad. He has added the first part of his surname more recently.

@Bovidae like last year, Waikato probably won't name their team.

I agree. The WRU are terrible at providing team lists, and I suppose would be reluctant to do so in this game as the squad hasn't been officially announced yet.

@Bovidae Waikato's communication with its fans is terrible in general when you stack it up against other Unions. They must have taken PR lessons from the Kremlin

@Bovidae When I asked them why there was no team named last year, they replied saying "the full squad isn't announced yet." Then they released photos of the match anyway? Idiots.

I assume the Waikato team will be training somewhere (Fred Jones/Beetham) so you could always have a look in the hope they are there.
