sad i seem to be in a minority, i still love the NPC....the results not so much...but its cool seeing the connections between First XV -> Club -> NPC

I'm with you! I like watching SR, but NPC is what it's all about for me. Because I'm not living in my home province, I can only watch livestreamed 1st XV and club games (all Super 8 games are livestreamed, fortunately), but I won't miss any Magpies game and watch almost all other NPC games, too.

Don't care much about North v South. It's rugby, so I'll watch it if it's on tv. That's about it.

@Hooroo in all seriousness, if the Auckland players aren't able to participate, then call it off.

If you guys from the North can't field a team, I guess we will have to take the points from your default! πŸ™‚

First XV -> Club -> NPC

that only happens in the shit teams like ours. The good teams like @Chris-B 's mob and the Cantabs just buy in who they want

Now ordinarily, I would let this slide past as largely bollocks driven by the envy and despair of those watching their old Div II compadres get ahead on the back of their hard work and intelligence.

HOWEVER, the acquisition of Reece and Talea (poached as eggs) requires address as it is indicative of a new era for the Mako. We have become a TEAM OF CHOICE! πŸ™‚

So, I'll share transcripts of a couple of conversations:

    CONVERSATION 1

    Sevu - Hey... Waikato,

Ta$man says why don't I go down there and play for a team of winners!

WRU - But, Sevu - if you go down there, you'll never play in a Ranfurly Shield Challenge again!

Sevu - Hey, don't try than 1960s bullshit on me, man. This is the 2020s! πŸ™‚

    CONVERSATION 2

Mark Talea - Hey Leon, Ta$man says if I want to make the ABs, I should go down there for the NPC and get some elite coaching and play for a team of winners.

Leon - Ooooh, weeellll. It's a toughie. There's quite a lot in what they say. You should definitely think about it, but......awww, you should probably get a second opinion. Why don't you ask your North Harbour coach and see what he thinks.

Mark Talea - Cheers Leon. I'll have a word with KK and see what he says.

Leon - Make sure you come back to the Blues next year, though. πŸ™‚

@mariner4life "The New York Yankees have won 40 AL pennants, winning their first in 1921 and their most recent in 2009. This total is more than twice that of the next-closest team,..."

So we should aim for 40 Championships, by 2107?

That doesn't seem very ambitious! πŸ™‚

    @Machpants This is more important.

How so? This is a nothing game with no meaning to it. Who cares if North or South win?

It's an All Blacks trial, that's why.

Who really gives a toss about Waikato playing Hawkes Bay?

@Hooroo You don't even watch Waikato games, as you've claimed several times in the past.

He doesn't even watch rugby generally, so I don't know why he has such a strong opinion about this match

@junior "I would definitely rather watch a match I have said that I would never watch" is not exactly a great argument for the relative importance of the latter match.
