Blues 2020

Itβs no surprise Darry is currently training with the Crusaders as part of their pre-season programme and is likely someone who the franchise and Canterbury have their eyes on going forward due to his undoubted ability and natural leadership skills.
Not enough of an eye apparently.

as I said, I know it is the way it is...look at someone like Nock, signed on as a schoolboy star with huge potential, look how long he has taken to start realising it, even then, still not to the level some had anticipated.
He may turn out to be a star, he may not, I just think it is a shame it is at a point where Franchises sign these kids, a cynic would say in cases to stop him playing elsewhere.
he may have gone a damn sight better with the current coaching setup -- the more I've seen of JK as a pundit, the less I have been impressed with his analytical abilities

@nzzp well I didnt wanna say that, as I sometimes get accused of bias...
Very unfair too. We know that you are biased, the accusations are completely unnecessary.
I actually think that Dalton is a good player but apparently I only think that is because he plays for one of the teams that I support. Go figure.
-
Wow, did not see that coming.
Blues are stacked at lock now.
Found this part interesting:
βI was really impressed speaking with coaches Leon (MacDonald) and Tom (Coventry), and trainer Phil Healey who worked with Brodie Retallick in his younger days. Brodie is someone I look up to and as a tall and lanky lock, I want to model my game on his.
-
@Stargazer Wow this is suprising. I watched this kid at the Quad tournament a couple of years ago. Huge future in the game, very surprised that he's leaving Canterbury though.
-
Perhaps the forwards coach?
-
Early nomination for white knight award, I see?
'All Blues successes can be tied to Tom Coventry'
I'm not saying you're wrong either btw (and I wish he were still at the Chiefs, fucking Cooper), but you're well on your way to a nomination.
-
Guilty as charged!

I was working at Ruakura when the Chiefs arrived on the campus.I was able to watch most of their trainings, and got to experience up close the work of Rennie ,Smith,Coventry,Andrew Strawbridge and Carl Hoeft. They all had their time running trainings, and most impressive they all were. They had immediate success ,so have been a fan ever since.
-
@trodthesod Carl Hoeft is still around the Tron I think

I wonder if he's on a mixed development/full time contract where he's on a development contract for the first year or two, then it's a full time contract on the back-end. I think we've given out these types of contracts to young promising players in the past.
