as I said, I know it is the way it is...look at someone like Nock, signed on as a schoolboy star with huge potential, look how long he has taken to start realising it, even then, still not to the level some had anticipated.

He may turn out to be a star, he may not, I just think it is a shame it is at a point where Franchises sign these kids, a cynic would say in cases to stop him playing elsewhere.

In the modern game I wouldn't consider a 20 year old a 'kid' anymore.

A good signing for the Blues, particularly as the direction of player movement is usually in the other direction.

Darry looked good for the NZ Schools team in Aussie.

Players to watch in Canterbury during 2020

Players to watch in Canterbury during 2020

With a long season ahead in the new year and an early start for Super Rugby next month, sports reporter Gordon Findlater looks at the rising...

It’s no surprise Darry is currently training with the Crusaders as part of their pre-season programme and is likely someone who the franchise and Canterbury have their eyes on going forward due to his undoubted ability and natural leadership skills.

Not enough of an eye apparently.

he may have gone a damn sight better with the current coaching setup -- the more I've seen of JK as a pundit, the less I have been impressed with his analytical abilities

Very unfair too. We know that you are biased, the accusations are completely unnecessary.

I actually think that Dalton is a good player but apparently I only think that is because he plays for one of the teams that I support. Go figure.

Wow, did not see that coming.

Blues are stacked at lock now.

    Found this part interesting:

β€œI was really impressed speaking with coaches Leon (MacDonald) and Tom (Coventry), and trainer Phil Healey who worked with Brodie Retallick in his younger days. Brodie is someone I look up to and as a tall and lanky lock, I want to model my game on his.

@nzzp Soane Vikena has been signed I believe. U20s hooker out of MAGS. That would mean the Blues would have Parsons, Niuia, Vikena.....so Eklund or Tolai (or both?) will be without a team

@Nogusta Is Tolai staying with Harbour? Don't they have some money troubles?

@Tim not sure about Tolai but I think Mark Telea will be plying his M10 trade in Nelson

@Stargazer Wow this is suprising. I watched this kid at the Quad tournament a couple of years ago. Huge future in the game, very surprised that he's leaving Canterbury though.

    @trodthesod

Early nomination for white knight award, I see?

'All Blues successes can be tied to Tom Coventry'

I'm not saying you're wrong either btw (and I wish he were still at the Chiefs, fucking Cooper), but you're well on your way to a nomination.

I was working at Ruakura when the Chiefs arrived on the campus.I was able to watch most of their trainings, and got to experience up close the work of Rennie ,Smith,Coventry,Andrew Strawbridge and Carl Hoeft. They all had their time running trainings, and most impressive they all were. They had immediate success ,so have been a fan ever since.

I think the current config max is 41k?

They should add the temp seats in front of the North and South stands

@Duluth Great result for the Blues. Man this tournament has been a breath of fresh air and it's awesome to see the fans get out in force for their respective teams.
