That's a grain.

@taniwharugby If I looked like a lesbian, I wouldn't go passing comment on other people's looks. Something Wilson should keep in mind.

Yes I've noticed you never pass comment on other people's looks.

@mariner4life with the new (to me) format I'm pretty much the equivalent of my dad trying to use the Sky remote, microwave, or any other electronic device. I just inadvertently found out I can't like my own post. I've pretty much forgotten which stories I've told and which ones I haven't so we'll have to start back at the start somewhere when the moment arises
Just tell them all over again, we can't remember anyway. This is us now:

I bought one of these knock off game boys on amazon, has over 500 games, majority are shit, but some snes/gameboy classics on there. We hooked it up to the TV and had a really fun hour or so this afternoon, might do it once or twice a month as I don't want my girl getting hooked, but maaaaan it was good to geek out on the old Mario games and good family competition.

My son has a Mario game where you get to design levels. Talk about a game changer. Incredibly addictive and fun, he seems to enjoy it too

Our youngest loves gaming, shes only 8 but has grown a passion for them with Minecraft her favourite (we bought it for her birthday) she also loves having a turn with GTA V when ever i crack that out on Xbox. Not sure its ideal for her to play.
On a unrelated note Lego has bought out a Mario range of interactive sets as well..
Doesnt really appeal to me, im more of a Star Wars and occasional custom lego bra fan myself...

I used to let my niece play Call of Duty at the same age ... she still plays it now, she's 18 and studying some nerd science stuff, son no lasting effect. Funnily enough I need her to complete the flying levels on GTA for me as I'm so unco on them - which is not going to happen any time soon as it the Transtasman Bubble seems to be on the backburner.

Right.... "Life changes"....
I've got a situation... nothing like @Virgil 's horrifying ordeal, but... there was no "got any advice for some trivial bullshit?" thread, sorry.
Long story - but I got kind of "stuck" in New Zealand when some virus-y shit went down. I've been based in London for 12 years, renting a central London apartment for a metric fuckton of £, and was too lazy to pack it up when I started off for a spot of travel - last April - with only what I could carry on a motorbike. The plan was always to do the travel, summer in NZ - then start sending out feelers/emails for jobs in London around March/April. Of course... the flu this year was a bit worse than normal, and that plan went to shit.
So - I'm currently stuck living in my sister's basement, in goddamn Rotorua, while paying the afore-mentioned shitton of rent for an apartment in London. For 16 goddamn months. Not bitter.
And recently - I finally admitted that perhaps I should look at getting a job in New Zealand - ideally a short-term contract.
And the first (and only) thing that comes up - a good job, really fucking good for the CV, but permanent. And, of course, I do the interview, and get an offer. For 50% of what I was earning in London, goddammit.
But... I figure the responsible thing to do is take it, as a permanent job is probably going to be a valued commodity in the coming couple of years.
But now - I've got to deal with an enforced repatriation, setting up a new life, with all my shit sitting in London.Anyway - where the Fern can maybe come in handy, other than validating my decisions so far...
#1 - I was given the choice of basing myself in Auckland or Wellington. I chose Wellington, but there might be enough time for me to change that. Can anybody convince me for/against either?
#2 - setting up a new goddamn residence. Location - I'm probably going CBD, or at least walking distance. 12 years of the tube, I ain't doing public transport any more. Unless - strong recommendations.
Utilities - any recommendations or "Avoid-at-all-costs!" anecdotes for internet/power/etc?
Motorcycle parking in Wellington... if I do end up in an apartment in CBD or Te Aro... does anybody know of options for long-term secure parking for a bike?
#3 - shipping of shit from UK to NZ... any experiences, recommendations?
#4 - anything else I should be thinking of, but haven't yet.
