    BB threw some nice passes

When he wasn't throwing it forward or loopy passes to nowhere?

What was the bad maul call by the ref?

Hard to see on TV, but he mixed up the passing nicely. THrew some bullets.

Overall out handling was strong too - a lot of poor passes got cleaned up.

The maul call was at teh end - about 2 minutes before the Chiefs went down teh field and then conceded a penalty. Blues held up the Chiefs carrier, and PT was ruled 'in from the side' when it looked super marginal in real life (and probably had no effect). Look, Blues blew a bunch of chances - if we can stop conceding offensive penalties (and defensive penalties for that matter) we'll take some stopping.

Also, a mate just texted and the final penalty was right in front of him. Seemed to be a hero drive, and coudln't get the ball back -- that may be what the penalty was for (although I just watched highlights on line, and there is no way that JG was on his feet).

@nzzp Pat T totally came from the side, penalty was fine. Admittedly at that point of a held up maul, refs normally allow a free for all

@nzzp Can't agree with the maul penalty you're talking about. It was the correct call as Tuipulotu clearly came from the side.

The Chiefs should've gone to a setpiece with Plummer in the bin, instead Cane calls for a tap.🤦♂

He made it pretty clear he didn't trust his tight forwards eh.

Both Slater and Eklund played well. Both look set to play a lot of games for their franchises and must bge on the AB selectors radars.

Centre field 10 metres out is a hard kick for touch. Lots of risk. Scrum was possibly a lottery so they tried to take the ref out of the game. He found another way in.
I have no issue with the tap.

@sparky with Coles and to a lesser extent Taylor getting on it's good to see. Not so good to see Taukeiaho and Makalio dropping off though.

Just one more from me about Baby face Pickerell ( decides that makes him sound like the criminal he is)

I expect to not see him officiate next week. If he gets another game then the ref assessors should be sacked. Big screwups two weeks in a row should mean go to jail, do not pass go!

I think we can all agree that the NZ refs are crap. Williams the best of a very average group.

You reckon the Sky producer was a Blues fan too? Interesting what replays weren't shown. 😉

The Chiefs scrum went to shit when Thomson went into lock. I think there was an opportunity to go right at the end. Only a try was needed.

Remind me who is the referee manager these days?

There's basically no replays this season. Irritating for anoraks, but good for the game I think- not poring over every call and lambasting the ref

@nzzp There are more replays on TV than at the ground.

I'm fucked off NZR haven't activated Sports Ears for SRA because I like to know what the penalties are for and to hear the communication between the ref and ARs.

Are there? The lack of replays in rugby coverage is one of the biggest first world bugbears for me at the moment.
