Some good fights and finishes in the mi-week card
-
Good card over the weekend
Cool submissions
Deiveson Figueiredo is a machine.
Joe was tough though

Lipski!
Good to see some clarity at 125. Joe was out classed but tough
Hermansson will be a difficult matchup for Adesanya in 2-3 fights

Whittaker or Till?
-
-
@MiketheSnow I don’t think Whittaker has it in hi anymore.

Hard to know
Long lay offs can go both ways - rejuvenation or retirement.

That's half the reason this fight is difficult to predict.
Whittaker hasn't won for two years and has had injuries/mental breaks
Till has plenty of questions about him too.. A couple of losses before moving up and then a close fight with Gastelum. He's had a few challenges outside the ring too
Maybe I'll lean towards the guy who hasn't peaked yet vs the guy who is trying to peak again. Whittaker of 2-3 years ago would out work Till though
Looking forward to seeing Gustafsson at heavyweight.
Guys like him make me think a 225 or 230 division could work. Maybe they'd need to bump the HW max up a little if they did that

The unbeaten Till from 2-3 years ago was a different proposition too.
But agree, I think the interim has favoured Till

Bethe Correia is possibly my least favourite fighter in the ufc. She may well win this one but she’s behind on the cards right now. She’s just a dumb fighter.
Hears the 10sec clap and stopped bloody fighting like it was the end of the round. Her coaches must have been furious.

For the second time in the prelims the commentators shout at Herb to stop the fight. Commentators shouldn’t be having an effect on the fight.. but Herb seems a bit off tonight
Sounds like Herberts corner was pissed at the lack of protection for their fighter too
Oh and Hardy and Herb have an argument after the fight

Another great night of sport
Dominant win from Wood
Great finish from Boser
Aspinall looked ready on his debut. Him v Hardy would be a good watch
Great patience and finish from Ronson
Trinaldo all class
Chimaev was like the terminator. Relentless
Great bottle and finish from Craig. Many would have buckled
Werdum finishes Gustafsson's career
War between Shogun and Little Nog. Two tough mother fuckers
Till had a chance early to finish it but let it slip. Bobby Knuckles all class after that for the deserved win -
Brunson vs Shabazian
Herb Dean needs some time off. I'll leave that there. Brunson a deserving winner and is on a 3 fight streak after switching gyms.
Jennifer Maia vs Joanne Calderwood. "The perils of overwork are slight compared with the dangers of inactivity" - Thomas Edison. Except if you're Joanne Calderwood. Should have left our ass at home lol. What I assume she thought would be a tune-up fight(while she waited for Bullet to get over her injury) has turned into a title shot all but evaporating.
If this card should be known for anything though its the number of low blows there were. Tons.
On the prelims, Chris Gutiérrez vs Cody Durden. Durden clearly won the first. Then Gutiérrez won the last two. Refs call it a draw. I think that's a tough call on Gutierrez. He clearly won 2-1. How do you guys feel about Durden being given the draw based on a dominant first round?
Bobby Green vs Lando Vannata was fight of the night.

I’m happy with the first being called a 10-8. But if you’re judging the fight in it’s entirety it was not a draw. It’s a quirk of the scoring system
I scored it 28-28 too
The 10 point must system works better in boxing. Maybe because the larger number of rounds?
Not sure what the solution is. Open scoring would help some fights but would also encourage fighters to sit on a lead
