Two tightheads and a dominant lineout. Mind you, the Chiefs forgot to put locks in their squad this year. Maybe Gatland should be focussing less on the Lions ...
Two of their locks are out with season-ending injuries, and the most important one isn't allowed to play.
Doesn't want to

Looks like Gats has taken the Chiefs backwards in 2020 - may as well be 1996, the lack of knowledge in regards to how the laws are being reffed is staggering. I would have thought Gats would hve schooled his troops better.
I didn't see a glaring issue in regards to the laws when compared to other teams.
What I did see was piss poor tactical and phase play, coupled with a seeming lack of clear game planning. If the players are going off the books that's one issue, if not then it's square with Gats. If the former then he's got some questions to ask.

Just like last week, there was a big penalty count against us in the 1st half, but we somehow still came out of the half with the lead, then in the 2nd half, we adapt a bit and really start taking control of the game.
Patty and the backrow were very good tonight. Akira will get another start next week after that performance.
Setpiece is functioning really well this season, and we still have Karl T to come back into the team.
The defense in tight was a bit iffy at first, but it just got better as the game went on. Was nice to keep them tryless.
Nice of the team to dedicate the win to Blues fan, Constable Michael Hunt.

The Blues forwards are ,apart from the penalties ,creating a very strong platform to win matches from.A very physical pack they tonight really stood up in the last quarter. With a lot of tight forward carries, which were recycled most impressive. The team are putting a lot of their demons to rest.

@Machpants Apparently Robinson is going to be out for a few weeks, unfortunately.

Tom has a meniscus tear ,which needs a clean up .and Blake a hamstring tear.I doubt we’ll see much of them for the next 6 games.

@Jailbreak7 Maybe he's distracted by his big money 2021 coaching job with the Lions?
If his focus is actually on 2020, that’d be pretty damning.
The forwards are out muscled and the backs are disjointed, but apart from that he’s doing an okay job...

@trodthesod And a lot of penalties we're giving away are due to our over-eagerness at breakdown more than anything. It should be an easy fix but it's 2 weeks in a row now so hopefully it gets sorted quickly.

What the hell was up with Weber's kicking? Was not a good look.
He was poor overall. The replacement halfback for the Chiefs was a marked improvement I thought.
-
@ACT-Crusader Yep I thought so too - on both counts. The young HB brought some edge.
Cruden looked dangerous every time he touched the ball - straightened the attack and when he did that, we looked good. Tupaea was good in patches, but lost the ball in contact too many times. -

Players not keeping their feet has been a feature of the first two rounds so far.
-
@ACT-Crusader With that in mind, maybe we should revisit the wrestling techniques that Henry favored. All about centre of gravity and positioning.

Tupaea was good in patches, but lost the ball in contact too many times.Cruden is a quality player, but that 10/12/13 combination just wasn’t working tonight. Blues forward momentum made it difficult for large parts of the game, but even when Cruden took on the line he didn’t have the bodies in motion outside him to cause any real damage.
-
@ACT-Crusader Agreed. Absence of any attacking plays were noticeable tonight - disappointing. The coaches box looked pretty flat. too Would have thought Randle might have brought some fresh ideas. to the party
