Kane bowling. Engage the desperation drive, Mr Sulu.

Well we have been put in our place well and truely. Aussie really are a great cricket nation. Even at home with one of our best teams ever we have to be firing on all cylinders just to compete with what for them is a average side.

Sadly we are not firing on all cylinders and we are getting a thrashing.

So you don't think it was odd he refused to accept what was a fairly straight forward caught and bowled catch and stood and forced the umpires to review it. Most players accept the bowlers word in such situations even if they didn't see it clearly themselves and walk.

It's the umpire's job to give you out. This isn't fucking Christmas day backyard with the in laws.

Aussie v Kiwi aside, the pom has well and truly ruined this as a contest. A test that I was looking forward to. Fortunately the not so super 125 is starting soon...

Ah yes, the umpire has ruined this, not the Kiwis shithouse batting/bowling.

Illingworth had nothing to do with you guys getting skittled on Day 1, or dropping Smith. Or the next day's benign attack which let Uz and Voges rack up big tons.

That's why I hate umpiring/reffing blunders. Because it makes losing fans think that the reason they lost was one bad decision by the official, not the fact that they played badly.

Not to say NZ have lost this test, but it's not looking good.

Yeah, my comments were tounge in cheek. It's an annoying decision because it's an easy one for the umpire to check, but obviously not the winning or losing of the game.

Try and see it from our perspective. It's like the Wallabies have fought their way back into a test after a poor start. They score a crucial try to even things up but the ref makes a howler and calls no try, then the All Blacks run away with it. You think, we didn't lose because of the decision, but for fuck sakes it's already hard enough to beat these fluffybunnies without that bullshit going against you.

🙂

Haha that's a good analogy. Dare I make a Nigel Owens World Cup Final joke right now???

Nah. But I see your point, it certainly was a howler.

The point is that the BCs have had 266 deliveries to Voges since to do something about it, and haven't.

Yep BCs are the only ones losing this test, as Baabaa said, he didn't drop Smith, or then not do anything about Voges still being there-like getting him out again.

the one thing that is really killing(or hurting) my enjoyment of sport is losers looking to blame the ref/umpire for anything that doesn't go their way!!

True. But the pitch on day 1 is a different matter to the Basin on day 2.

We still batted poorly though and the toss to me is the biggest factor. But if we won the toss, my prediction is Australia scores 250, and we reply with about 200. Closer match but I highly doubt it would be playing out like this*

*unless we were getting umpiring assistance on a pitch already helping batsmen :)

I can't see any regular vision to make a call on the pitch - just going on second hand info, mainly. But everyone agrees with that assessment.

But its pretty clear that Hazlewood and Siddle bowling as individuals and a partnership are looking handy, but mainly its the length of the two. Not sure what is up with Bird, but if he's not getting swing then he just doesn't have the pace to contain or remove. That is the biggest difference between the teams.

BC top order will be a different proposition second time around is my bet, and Smith will want to pile on a few tomorrow before declaring just before lunch. By that stage Voges might have a double and the bowlers can wind up for another crack - Bird may get to redeem himself.

Now that the order of play (ie. NZ bat some time tomorrow) is pretty much assured, Lyon may really come into play just before each innings break. Three wickets in the first innings, admittedly the tail, but then he didn't get much of a crack at the top 6.
