@shark dunno if it was meant to be a "team" or a "top 5", but either way its classic Magic, just kowtow to the current stars.
Great player, shit coach and GM
It also kills me that he gets kudos , along with other sports stars to be fair, for being an "amazing businessman".
It's so dumb. The guy gets presented a thousand deals a year that go through multiple layers of vetting before he even sees them (if he ever does). But your average bloke with his head screwed on, doesnt get to see any of these opportunities.

He still has to pick and choose the right deals. The sports landscape is littered with retired sportspeople that lost all there money on a succession of deals gone bad. But you are right, he has massive opportunities, albeit won on the back of a stellar career
-
@canefan for sure he does. But half the battle is origination of opportunities. And he would see 50x more deals than the average bloke, and would have a solid team aound him doing the real work. Its a privileged position, and he's not some investment savant because of it

And how about Hornacek stroking his face 3 times (for his 3 children) before every FT attempt. It was so funny to watch but the ball usually went through the hoop.
Sure did, 88% career FT shooter.
I love some of the FT rituals. Some might remember the Harold Miner routine when he was USC. I was a dribble three times and spin the ball in both hands two times guy...
Best FT from the 90s was MJ answering Mutumbo's trash talking by shooting with his eyes closed and making it
My favourite FT of all time is Bo Kimble shooting a left handed FT in the first round of the NCAA tourney after his friend and team mate Hank Gathers died. What a tandem they were.

Good old Magic, going out on a limb again...He has to have the worst player/analyst ability ratio going around.
Silly to leave Kawhi out (over Curry for me), but otherwise he has just picked the 5 best guys!
I reckon both Leonard and Paul George would be successful back then. I see similarities in both their games with Pippen.

This. Also, a lot of these guys are already fucking loaded, so they don't need to take the riskier opportunities presented to them. They can literally afford to wait for the next sure thing to come along.

I'm no Kobe fan generally, but it's pretty hard to go past him making a pair on a busted achilles

How good do you have to be to pull that off!!?? What a champ.

I meant it'd be easier to succeed in the MJ era if you played any other position. So why would Magic suggest a Klay or D Book as examples.

The fallout:
Pippen
Grant
Thomas
And just like that, MJ is far and away the biggest name in basketball all over again.
Butthurt articles from lessor players
Butthurt articles from teenage LBJ fansWhile the king sits and smiles

@mariner4life Horace looks like even more of a snitch now and is reacting because Lebron sycophant Shannon Sharpe has called him out for not giving MJ an ass whooping.
If indeed Pippen is "Livid" he's missed the large portion of the doco where he's made out to look like a young kid that became a badass and one of the best players ever. "there's no Michael Jordan without Scottie Pippen" And he's livid. Gets a massive shout out for playing the whole game with his back out and he's livid. GTFOH
We already knew Isiah was going to say some bullshit.
But it's popping off now. Jordan is going to be the greatest on one side of the coin and Ty Cobb on the other.

Horace popping off because he did it. Suck it up mate. Part of the story is the Bulls sucked, then Jordan arrived. Pretty much everyone knew what the culture was, and this was in the 80s.
I doubt Pippen is pissed at all. And if he is, then he's waaaay more sensitive than Jordon is being made out to be in the retcon articles that are pouring out now.
Everyone hates Isiah, so he should probably just shut the fuck up. And walking off the court like that was a total bitch move however you want to paint it.
Right now it's people, once again, trying to make money/a name, off the back of Jordan.
Fucking GOAT

I've got mixed feelings on Pippen, and how he was portrayed throughout.
He had himself to blame for settling for relatively shit money. But he acted like a petulant little bitch as a result. I think it was also insinuated that his headache game was bullshit.
But there is also no doubt that he was given due credit for his ability and influence on the team, and a final flourish where he was made out to be a hero for playing a game with a sore back.
Mixed bag.

One point made on ESPN recently was that the owners held all the power back then. I guess Scotty liked to win and chose not to test the market as a result. These days the players would get paid and get Krause fired. To be fair to Jerry he was doing what he was told to by Reinsdorf
