Covid-19 and keeping fit

Hmmm last few days....
Sunday? 5km family walk and then did a workout with the wifes pilates bands (not booty bands she says). Anyway I trained biceps and triceps and a wee bit of shoulders. She had 3 bands to start with and ended with 5 as I busted one in to 3 bits. Got told to stop so ended up going for a a short ride down the far end of the beach and did a few half assed hill repeats with the wife and then rode back
Monday - short ride with miss 7 to check surf conditions around the area then a surf. Then a better 17km ride mid arvo along the coast, up to the lookout, back down the beach and around the golf course.
Today - bit of a run. Squeezed out a boring 8km at 5min/km pace. Felt easy to go further but dont want to add to many miles on these legs too soon. New shoes coming this week as ordered friday. Run was mix of golf course, gravel trail, sand, pine forest and road.

Ran a marathon, 5 months til the next one, so now what?
Aiming for 40k p/week for the next few months, although I think my joints need a small break now. The program I used for the marathon (Kenzai) has some other home-based HIIT based workout courses which I might get involved with. Will see.
Want to buy a mountain bike as there are a load of trails around here and MR Jnr (8yo) got a mountain bike for his birthday and he's loving it. Only so much I can share with him on it whilst walking. However, difficult to get one at the moment with shops closed etc.

Yeah mate the mountain biking is hell addictive.
Some mean bikes available too that make it so much fun.
Just remember NO eBikes!!
It's all done at 8yo pace and often 6yo pace too (she's on a BMX tho). So I'll be getting something pretty basic and solid.
250 pounds buys you a fully disc braked, shimano geared beast with suspension forks at the moment, so that'll do. It'll be quite heavy, but due to going at kids pace, thats not an issue.

Ran 8km today, and it was pretty easy. Starting to feel my fitness coming right back
Not quick, but pretty solid, and recovery was almost instant

First injury... Nothing to do with exercise but will sick me off any upper body work until its better...
Extended my wrist too far pushing a tricky door handle up to lock and it stuck a bit. Hurt at first then as the day has gone on its really achey ulnar side can't lift with my left hand so will need to be rested. Even driving hurt.
I honestly wanted to work more on upper body, just nothing involving using my hands maybe.. Or leg work only for a while.

That will be sweat for basic off road work, especially with the youngsters.
My 10 year old is pushing for something a bit more serious now but its $$ for something decent his size with dual suspension

The VO2 Max calculation on my Garmin app, while not perfect, does sort of allow me track my fitness levels, as i know what it looked like at Iron Man time.
Mine has gone up 3 points in April alone.

You know, I read what I'd written and thought, hmm, looks a little off, couldn't put my finger on it, thanks for pointing it put to me...

@voodoo nice! I'm testing the calf again today with Bonesetta. Going for a run that is (or attempting to). Tightness seemed to shift further up the calf after Sunday but feels good right now...
Me mate the rugby coach reckons all the guys are using "massage guns" these days. Self-operate on most parts of the body (not that part), up to 20 settings for power and speed, changeable heads etc. He has had calf issues all his life and swears by it.

Bit stuffy today so not the most comfortable 9km but not bad. Time was okay.
Getting old is fucked though. My body is not used to this volume of road running. I'm starting to get sore hips, and my achilles are both very tight.
