There's obviously a desire to complete the league when possible to do so...

"There is a combined objective for all remaining domestic league and cup matches to be played," the league said, "enabling us to maintain the integrity of each competition."

    And this...

Uefa, in a letter signed by the European Club Association and the European Leagues, has urged members not to abandon their competitions. Halting leagues without approval from Uefa could see teams blocked from qualifying for the Champions League and Europa League as they are determined based on final positions in domestic standings.

Now, it seems to me that there must be a point by which the league executives will simply say that 19/20 can't be completed. However, and similarly, there must also be a point whereby 20/21 can't be started, because there won't be enough time to complete a full 38-game season. In this case, surely the fall back would be to complete 19/20?

The league has lost so much appeal since some of the clubs took govt money to pay non playing staff.

I doubt I’ll get over it completely, honestly.

I don't have a problem. If major companies can use the subsidy, why not? If the government doesn't want them to use it then stop them. I see in the NBA the Utah Jazz have laid off a bunch of non playing staff. The longer no games are being played and no money made they won't be the last. When things return to normal sports teams will be a major way for people to feel happy again

The players haven't agreed to any reduction in their excessive salaries yet, which will be a poorer look for the league. Dressing it up by saying this will result in a lower tax revenue by the Government won't help the clubs pay their bills.

Good for you. We will have to agree to disagree.

Liverpool joined the fold now too.

The other story is that Sky and BT have asked for extra games next season to show live at no extra cost in exchange for not pressing for a huge refund from the EPL.

Yet Sky and BT are still charging full wack for subscriptions. They must be piling in the cash during this crisis.

I think the most likely outcome is that for EPL at least, season 2019/20 will be completed as soon as possible (possibly in a condensed time and behind closed doors) and then the 2020/21 season might lose the League Cup (no idea if that is possible) so it can have a late start and still be completed. And maybe UEFA will need to reformat their comps for 2020/21 to reduce the number of games. Really just speculation at this stage.

@KiwiPie Yeah the Cottage rocks when full. Must've been an amazing night. I was following it on BBC live updates in my office. Bloody brilliant - then hoping Juve don't somehow conjur up an error.

Such a fabulous season. Only game I watched live was the final. While disappointed obviously it didn't take the gloss off the run. Atletico were the better side - I was praying we could steal an undeserved victory on penalties. Not to be but never mind. Great memories from a not too shabby side.

Poor old Woy eh - all downhill after Fulham.

Woy has had quite the managerial career when you look at his record. Managing since he was 29 so that is 44 years and counting. Has had 4 national teams (Switzerland, UAE, Finland, England), huge clubs (Inter Milan, Liverpool), other Premier League (Blackburn, Fulham, West Brom, Palace) as well as clubs in Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark & Norway. Must have made a bit of cash over the years.

Yay football's back! 5am game was totally dull and even duller without any crowd excitement. Hawkeye did manage to fail with its goal line technology as apparently there was a combination of the goalkeeper's body and other players stopping it from spotting that he was clutching the ball behind the line.

City disposed of the Arse as expected with a degree of assistance from David Luiz. Nice to see some old certainties still in place.
