I was going to post that, so thanks.
I don't know who is right, but the rebuttal seems rather personal, playing the man and elitist. He may be right but his style is not convincing at all. -
@Baron-Silas-Greenback to be honest, I dont think anyone is right or wrong, some people are trying to remain calm amid all this shitstorm of mis-information (on both sides - if there are sides) and make a bit of sense.

Why are Asian people so much more obedient? Do they have more pride and nationalism? Have they had less personal freedoms so doing what Govt says is normal. Is there a level of fear?
How do those govts put shit in place so quick like if you have the Rona they give u a phone and track you. They text you, call u and send people to check on you. They build hospitals in weeks. They just get shit done. Interesting times.

I don't know who is right, but the rebuttal seems rather personal, playing the man and elitist. He may be right but his style is not convincing at all.I didn't get that sense. I did get the sense he is really frustrated with unqualified people getting huge amounts of traction and attention peddling misleading data (note, I am not claiming I personally identified the original article as such).
I can totally understand how an expert would feel that way.
Incidentally, this is what I as trying to say on the other debate:
“ The author discusses the apparent decline in daily growth rate irrespective of control measures.“
And
“He fails to see that this drop in apparent growth rates is heavily driven by left censoring and shifts in testing strategy. Testing started at different times in different countries, was influenced by case density, and early-on, tests individuals in all stages of disease.”
I.e. it's just so hard to compare across different countries when the approach appears so different.

Friends of ours flew back from Bali to HK to ride this out for a while. They literally got tagged at the airport - a GPS bracelet that is tracked 24/7.
Contrast to NZ, where we filled out a form that may or may not have been sent to the folk at Healthline for loading to a database. I can't check that database of course, because nobody answers the phone there.

Parts of the original article would be genuinely nice if they were true. e.g. large parts of India would be delighted to know that "Covid-19 will likely "burn off" in the summer"........

Question for youse all - how many hours per day are you currently burning on this thing?
I'm currently on a sabbatical, so am spending waaaay too much time on it. Between Twitter, the Fern, FB, and various WhatsApp groups, I can get through an entire day without doing anything more productive than cooking the kids dinner and going for a run.
And yes, I appreciate how sad that is.
I have no idea how people with busy jobs are managing!

Possibly as they were more impacted by SARS & Swine Flu, their planning was way better.
In the West, we were more stressed by things like transgender toilets.

If only we had the right pronoun to cure coronavirus by.

To be fair, within 10 days the UK arranged contact strategies, websites, medical care, food delivery, medicine delivery and mental health checks for 1.5 million at-risk people all over the country. That's pretty impressive logistics.
The US looks to be a bad place with almost universal fluffybunny-ness, but I'd expect them, when they get their act together, to be equally impressive.

Still far too much. We watch the daily pressers avidly. We have a family WhatApp group where we check out each other, share humour and have general banter - use has dropped off a bit. Serious stuff like managing Mrs M's 80 yr old parents is done by phone and kept as short as possible.
We're going to stop reading about fluffycoronabunnies this week as it makes us mad and want to throw things at the TV.
Weather has changed so out into the garden this week - that and building my balsa-wood Spitfire..
