Hammet’s CV must make horror reading. I am genuinely surprised that he continues to be employed in a coaching capacity.
Mind you, John Mitchell’s CV is pretty awful as well but he landed a well paid gig. There's still people, cough @Chris-B, that think the Hammettuer did a good job at the Hurricanes. People be crazy.

At least I've got Conrad in the same boat to talk to!

So you and his chosen captain, a captain I might add that didn't win Super rugby and only went close to winning when a new coach was brought in.

@Nepia As it turned out Conrad was pretty much right. He said Hammer had set great foundations in place - and the next year they should have won the title, and the following year they did.
And Hammer keeps getting jobs!
What is especially interesting with your timing of today's sally is that I've just come home from Nelson and standing on a street corner with a travel bag slung over his shoulder was either John Mitchell or his doppelganger. I'm thinking Mitch should still be in England - but, otherwise, what's he doing in Nelson??!!
-
@KiwiMurph The guy I saw was the spitting image of Mitch and easily big enough to be him.
The only question marks I had were that I thought he'd be in England and, if it was Mitch - he's very well preserved. He didn't look too much different to 2003 Mitch. I guess cue balls don't really age....

1 News has just mentioned that Ben Smith is likely to sign for the Highlanders aswell.

Jesus, the Chiefs better start signing up players quick smart before they're all taken.

So how big are squads going to be for SRA?
Ricky Jackson was replaced by Nathan Vella. Jackson is apparently ready to return, so I assume they'll drop Vella?
James Lentjes had a season-ending injury and was replaced by Slade McDowall.
Connor Garden-Bachop, same same. He was replaced by Tima Fainga'anuku. The other two with season-ending/long-term injuries are Thomas Umaga-Jensen and Tevita Nabura.
One is replaced by NMS, the other by Vilimoni Koroi.Scott Gregory and Jona Nareki were already squad members.
So if they add Ben Smith without dropping another player, that means an increase in squad size (which sounds reasonable if the Crusaders get Whitelock without having to drop a player from the squad - I'm not aware of a Crusaders player having a season-ending injury).
So again, how big are the squads going to be? Questions, questions.

Dang Nehe signed for 2 seasons. Interesting how he can just get out of a contract like that. IIRC wasn't he in doubt to even make his trip to Toulon?
Maybe Toulon saw some footage of him after 2015 while in lockdown? They would have been happy to release him from his contract.
