Sometimes, when I get a bit cocky and think my life is interesting, or that I just achieved something of note, I like to come to the Planes forum to remind myself just how mundane my life really is.
Keep it that way.
Was going to have a look and find some photos of some of the insane strips that we used to go to, but found this instead:
No that isn't me, smart-arses.
Hanging out with New Guinean cannibals, imagine my surprise.

I've got some sad and tragic news...

Looks like we will buy new Hercules aircraft instead of changing to another manufacturer. Good solid option
The Herc must be one of the best aircraft designs ever. I read somewhere the RAF wanted C130J's instead of the Airbus A400 to go with their C5 fleet - more bang (and aircraft) for the buck and a better fit. with the C5's.
The A400 has been a bit of an expensive disaster with one French Air Force officer allegedly calling it "2,000 software bugs flying in formation - when the engines work"

@Paekakboyz F15Es are the shit. During TLP (best multi-national air training there is) we had a pair with us on the course. They'd take off first, self sweep (A2A), drop the most ordnance (along with the Tornado GR), then self escort out and land last. We had better SA with our data link, and the best heat seeker in the world with ASRAAM - but yeah awesome machines.
We often see RAF Hawk trainers doing low level stuff around our area. Think they are from RAF Culdrose.
Once in a while they get chased by USAF F15's as part of the training - which is seriously awesome.

Random useless fact , Russians consider light blue and dark blue to be different colours and don’t have a word for blue in their language
Another random useless fact, and sod all to do with Planes, but the Cornish word for glas means any colour of the sea.... green, blue, grey - even off-white.

If they're from Culdrose, and that's RNAS (Royal Naval Air Station) Culdrose ;), they'll be FRADU (Fleet Requirements and Air Direction Unit) Hawks - flown by old retired buggers and a few youngsters getting extra hours in training. Busy place Culdrose, I did a few years there, on and off - my wife is Cornish and family is mostly there too, whereabouts are you?
Oh they're not FRADU anymore, in the current MoD desperation to say 'we've got a lot of squadrons', they are now 736 NAS. All the small flying units such as RAF Flying Training Schools, or Ooperational Evaluation Units have been given Squadron plates so it looks better for PR

Live nr Looe. Once saw 2 x F15's flying quite low along the valley which runs between Liskeard & Bodmin. Pretty cool thing to catch.
