The Greatest Test Matches Ever?
-
England v Aus on the northern tour of 1988.
It was like 4 tries to 3 (huge in those days).
Carling captain.
England just about likeable. Thankfully they ruined that over he following years.
Stuart Barnes at 10 ( when we didn't know he was a dick), Guscott 12, and England running the ball.

It (the RWC 2011 final) wasn't a great game to watch, but the pressure was immense.
The back of my sofa still has my teeth marks.

I bet he was black

In no particular order....
3rd Test 1977 Lions. Brains v brawn with an out-muscled AB team totally out-thinking and outsmarting the opposition.
Ellis Park 2013. Intensity, skill levels, physicality, Owen's reffing, the respect between the two team....
ABs v Scotland 1st Test 1996. Cullen's 3 tries, Gregor Townsend's try, the Jocks scoring 31 points.
Ireland at Lansdowne Rd in 2013. About 30 phases of play 30 seconds from full time ending in Crotty's try & Cruden's conversion to win the game. Not the greatest of games but the most satisfying ending.

Ellis park 2013 best in recent memory
For purely endings alone 2013 Lansdowne and Bled 3 2014 (I think - Fekitoa try, slade conv).
Best rugby game attended was 2002, England vs AB's at twicks. We lost, but came back from 31-13 down to almost nick it. Sat with a fantastic group of English rugby guys who represented every single thing that is good about England rugby.

1993? Lee Stensness still has his lucky $20 bill.

Scotland v England in 1989? Clash for the 5N Grand Slam and Triple Cown. Stanger scored the Scotties' try.
It was in 1990. And has already been suggested.
Roger that. Was too busy looking for 1981.

Am wondering if Victor may meant to refer to 4th Test 1977. 10-9 ABs with Laurie Knight's last minute try. Used 3 man scrums to combat the big strog Lions.

Doh! Typo - should have been 1977. The one where Sid Going was dropped and Mourie made his debut.Yeah 1993 was pretty cool as well. That was an outstanding Lions team.
Just got boobooed

Great to hear.
Had some bad experiences at Twickenham in the mid-late 2000's, but the RFU seem to have stopped the neanderthals and the atmos and behavior of the England suppers when i went last year was tremendous.

Reminds me of similar match v France on tour later than year, second test. ABs sped it up, ran it when least expected, lots of quick and short lineout to reverse the result of the first test ( where we got somewhat Nantes'ed).
Which brings to mind the 1979 Bastille Day massacre.

4th Test was great but we had to win the 3rd Test to have a chance to win the series - we had been reading water for years and there was a danger of losing 2 Lions series on the trot.
Just clever, innovative play which kept the Lions on the back foot, seemed to restore confidence and changed the way we played

Went again in 04 for baabaas and in 2018. Both had issues but on the whole weren’t too bad.
Not in a hurry to go again tho. I prefer football here.

I've been to Twickenham many times and to be honest I've never seen much in the way of antagonism - from home or away fans, this is also true of the Principality Stadium. The issues I have with Twickenham are all to do with the money grubbing bastards that run it.

Have had 2 bad experiences. Once was a bunch of twats abusing the ref and the opposition like a soccer crowd and the other was in the late 2000's where a bunch of people were shouting racist abuse at Pasifika AB's. To balance that, the IRB Sevens at Twickehman have been bloody brilliant
All credit to the RFU for coming down hard on the loons who were starting to give it a bad reputation. They've done a great job
Yeah, MS is great and being almost in the middle of Cardiff, the craic in the bars is awesome. Best rugby stadium I've been to.

Was there last year to watch England chuck it away. The atmosphere was amazing and really good natured. The City afterwards was a thing to behold. I lost count of the number of pissed up Welshmen, stripped to the waist in the rain chanting Waaaales, Waaaales. Still all good though.
