Two things I read the past week describing Geddy’s voice; 1) testicles crushed in a vice; and 2) makes Robert Plant sound like Leonard Cohen. Both made me laugh.
I also learned this week that Geddy is not his real name. His actual name is “Gary,” but his mother was a European Jew (holocaust survivor) and always pronounced “Gary” as “Geddy” and since he was a kid that’s what his friends called him and it stuck. That might have been covered in the documentary, but if it was then I forgot it.
Peart wrote a song for Geddy about his mother, on “Grace Under Pressure,” from stories she told. If there’s actually such a thing as a cool uptempo rock song about the horrors of Holocaust, “Red Sector A” might be one of the few.

Red Sector A is my favourite song from GUP.
The band all had nicknames amongst themselves too.
Geddy = Dirk
Neil = Pratt
Alex = Lerxst (Lifeson is not his real surname either, it's Živojinović)Their sense of humour was evident in the videos used at their concerts. For example:

Terry Jones: Monty Python star dies aged 77

Dementia, a rare form. Hits close to home. Very sad.
Rest In Peace, Terry. -
@Salacious-Crumb Hard to upvote post like that but I didn't know, and he was a fav of mine.
Bugger.

That Witch scene is just about my favourite in the Holy Grail, which makes it one of my favourites of all time

Mr Creosote Blows is not an easy watch but it was hilarious. Probably more because of Cleese deadpan delivery more than the spectacle of the vomit and eventual explosion. But Terry Jones was so good in so many different characters. Truly sad when someone so clearly gifted and intelligent has their wits taken from them. Dementia is a c@nt.

@raznomore I haven't listened to the Palin clip Snowy pasted so apologies if this has been said but I heard Palin say it was sad that Terry Jones great gift of communication was taken from him. He went on to explain that he still visited Jones often. The last time he visited he read Jones an old script they'd written together and for the first time in ages Jones reacted with a soft heh heh heh which was apparently his genuine laugh. Palin then paused with absolutely perfect comic timing and went on to say "Of course what made it absolutely perfect was Terry only laughed at the bits he'd written"

One of my fave routines, the political peasants from Holy Grail. Saw the film twice on Queen Street when it was released, lined up to see it. Python was huge in NZ in the 70s. When I was a teen I had the cassette tape from this soundtrack and played it endlessly and could recite word-for-word as a sort of poem spoken in a foreign language — because I couldn’t understand any of it. It became something of an education for me. Palin really shines here, but Jones supports beautifully in one of his many awesome woman-roles. The language and rhythm and timing is genius. The film really looks quite beautiful too.

I could not count how many times I have watched that movie

You'd feel blessed to have a mate for life of the calibre of Michael Palin. I have found he and Terry Jones read history at Oxford University, as 19 year olds. The excellent video to which you have linked has Palin, 55 years later, sitting beside his fading friend reading to him, not even sure that Jones knows who he is.
Michael Palin is, of course, one of the most articulate observers you will hear. He is very thoughtful here.
I see JC's apt comment "@Snowy just watching that I was thinking - not for the first time - that Michael Palin has to be just about the loveliest bloke on the planet. I’m very sad for him."
Me too.

NBA great Kobe Bryant killed in a helicopter crash in California.
It’ll be interesting to see how the press eulogise him.
I think since his farewell tour his standing and the view of him has gone up.

@sparky seems they are unsure if his wife and kids were on board. Far out, horrible news.
Ah fuck , his 13 year old daughter was with him
