So, what do we conclude about our spinners for the tests vs India?

Santner? Astle? Somerville? Ajaz? Ish? Play four seamers plus CdG?

    Technically spinners move the ball.

Has the team become complacent through their efforts to be nice? Very few showed any fight in this test series. A real fizzer on this side of the trench.

@Chris-B hopefully they finally realize a spinner is probably a waste of time in NZ and play four seamers. If not I would like to think Astle has overtaken Santner as the batting spinner.

If they really want to play a spinner that can bat they may as well play Ravindra, better batsmen than any other spinning options and none of them likely to take wickets in NZ anyway.

A shame Kane won't bowl himself a bit more. Last series aside, he is both a better batting option and spinning option in terms of getting turn.

Kane had the potential to be our number one spinner in most conditions and the number two in spin friendly conditions. I've never really understood why he didn't go down that path. Did he want to focus on his batting? Was it a workload thing? Is it a humility thing (doesn't rate his bowling so doesn't bowl himself)? Is it a fear of chucking?

I reckon it's a humility thing. He really should have bowled a lot more overs than he has.

The worst was the England test in Auckland about 6 years ago where they batted a day and a half to save the game. Bruce Martin had been bowling ineffectively all day, and Kane only got the ball in the final hour, and promptly took two wickets to get them 9 down, only for Monty Panesar and Matt Prior to see off the final few overs. I'd been crying out for Kane to bowl since the middle of the second session.

I reckon itโ€™s a workload thing. Still our key batsman, captaining and all that.

I wish he bowled more, maybe be like Border who didnโ€™t bowl in every test match, but when conditions or situation favoured he put in a goodish sized spell.

I think humility because of chucking. Just a hunch but he's in the cross hairs for chucking and a decent haul in an innings could see the whole merry go round start up again.

His action is still a bit suss, by the current standards

Can't believe how quickly the first T20 is after the last ODI v Aussie last night.

Friday night kick-off. Two games over the long weekend at Eden park. Amongst. I will be in Auckland too so may pop along.

Not sure. Will decide on the day. Danica has one running so may pop along. Are you going to the races or the cricket (or the sales for that matter)

We're smacking it round but we'll need every single run, this is a batting paradise.
