Been quiet on here considering we're in to fight week
Barry tipping Joshua this time round
Im leaning towards Joshua ,
But a result either way wouldnt surprise me that much
Same for me. Think AJ is gonna be way more prepared re what to expect and bring his A game. Ruiz is unique tho so still could cause AJ problems

AJ with a boxing masterclass
-
So the answer to my last post was 'yes, he can'
Must have been made to watch Lewis v Tua fight. Just kept his distance and picked Ruiz off.
If he had engaged then it would have been the first result again. Ruiz is a good fighter and bloody tough, but if you don't let him engage then you take away his strength.
AJ had been used to fighters showing him way too much respect (yes you Parker) but has now learned that lesson.
I doubt AJ will ever take on Wilder. Too much risk of one punch wiping out better boxing. I reckon he will go for Fury with the remote possibility of Hearn setting up a easy one against stablemate Parker for the home fans (if he can get Parker to beat Whyte first and reclaim the right to fight)

AJ evolved. Ruiz went backwards. Ruiz will rue piling on the pounds.
Superb game plan from AJ and team, almost perfectly executed.

pretty much how I thought the first fight would go , and I was shocked as anyone with how that went
Everyone has a bad day at the office eventually , and AJ was shocking that first fight , and probably got what he deserved,
Hopefully fights the winner of Fury Wilder , that is what we want .

Much as I dislike AJ and all the spin, you could see he was absolutely focussed this time, losing weight in a bid to be faster and more nimble in the ring - while Ruiz......well didn;t think it would go any other way TBH after seeing the weiigh-in. Ruiz should fire his trainer.
-
AJ did what he had to. Good on him but Ruiz has always struggled when people don't engage with him. Parker did the same in the 2nd half of their fight and Ruiz couldn't cut off the ring and the same happened yesterday. Ruiz let himself down coming in morbidy obese like that and has no one to blame but himself.
Good performance by AJ but hardly a masterclass. Hearn couldn't wait to change the subject in regards to a unification so that won't be happening next/ever. Expect a soft touch against Pulev if the IBF mandatory gets called or maybe they keep it in house and give Whyte or Michael Hunter a go next....yay.

Boxing would be so much better if there wasn't 6 different fucking belts floating around for every division. All with their own mandatory challengers, and the ability to just dodge fights that look risky.

Hence the rise and popularity of the UFC

AJ is done I reckon, mentally shot, rumour is he had a panic attack before the first Ruiz fight. He'll lose this then retire. He doesn't even really like boxing, he was manufactured into the sport, he'll take the $$$ and run.
Well this aged like milk spilt in the sun.
Boring fight, Ruiz looked clueless against a more nimble/cautious AJ. Reminded me of Tua's title fight against Lewis back in the day. Smaller more powerful man just schooled from range.

True, but he didn't look gassed going the full 12. I guess because he was able to occupy the middle of the ring while AJ danced around him for 36mins.

It's hard to enjoy a fight like this as a casual or a true fight fan. Ruiz turning up in that condition and 2 months late to his training camp basically decided the outcome before anyone bought a ticket. He had the opportunity to put a more positive spin on the Buster Douglas scenario. But he just ended up securing the bag. I'd imagine $9m buys a lot of tamales for the cholos back in the barrio, I kid, I kid. But for real it was a wasted opportunity to cement his position, as I still think he had AJ number.
AJ boxed a masterclass in scared boxing for most of the fight. It was still box and all power to him. He stayed safe, out of Ruiz firing line and I think he can grow from that performance. Still boring to watch though.
AJ fights Usyk next as his mandatory and I expect he'll probably fight safe again. Fury vs Wilder 2 is the next super fight and AJ will want to make sure he has the belts to take on the winner of that. If the stars align it'll be Fury vs Aj and both fighters will get $100m paydays.

Does anyone think AJ will ever fight Wilder?
Hearn seems to make excuses whenever the topic is raised. For that reason I want Wilder to beat Fury so Joshua can't avoid him if he wants a unification fight.
If the money was massive I do believe they would,
But I think they will try and milk every cent they can out of the sport firstbefore they take that risk,
I think fury is just as risky for a different reason , he may not knock him out , but could box his ears off and humiliate him
