    Yep. They only see it as merchandise, so as something worn by the people who buy it. They don't seem to consider at all how it looks on players during the game.

    There is no way I would ever buy one of these jerseys. Give me a more basic design like this...

    About the Gallagher Chiefs Jerseys:

    https://www.chiefs.co.nz/news-item/new-2020-gallagher-chiefs-jerseys-launched

    Gallagher Chiefs Home Jersey:
    The front part of the jersey is dedicated to Tūmatauenga (Tū) and qualities of battle. Tū is the figure adorning the centre poupou (pillar). Rurutangiākau is also displayed on the centre poupou.

    The dominant figure of Akerautangi is the two-headed taniwhā prominent on the front and the rear of the jersey and wrapped around the centre poupou (pillar).

    The front infill also depicts wai (water) the dwelling place of taniwhā and the feature that connects the Chiefs regions.

    The back of the jersey is dedicated to Rongomatane (Rongo) and qualities of preparation and planning. Rongo is the figure on the poupou with Akerautangi featuring again wrapped around the poupou.

    The infill graphics for the rear of the jersey are kōriri (to flourish) and speak for the need to prepare well for battle.

    Gallagher Chiefs Training Jersey:
    This jersey is dedicated to Rongomatane (Rongo) and qualities of preparation and planning. Rongo is the figure on the poupou with Akerautangi featuring wrapped around the poupou.

    The infill or the rear of the jersey are kōriri (meaning to flourish) and harakeke (meaning cohesion and unity) and speak for the need to prepare well for games.

    The three woven harakeke baskets have two meanings. Firstly, they represent, ngā kete o te wānanga (meaning the three baskets of knowledge), telling us that knowledge acquisition is all important in game preparation. Secondly the Māori axiom “Nāu te rourou, nāku te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi” meaning “Your food basket and mine will sustain the tribe”, outlines the importance of individual contribution and nutrition while preparing for battle.

    @Bovidae Thanks for posting that, it clears up things for the moment that Super Rugby designates them as "Teams". Heaven help us if anyone starts referring to the All Blacks as a "Club" along the lines some misguided people outside of this website forum can be prone to do when referring to the Super Rugby TEAMS.

    It's been done. Usually ignorant Johnny Foreigner (Aussie) press.

    Except that they're called the Reds.

    @Stargazer

    Any video with Lats in it gets a like regardless of how average the shirt is (it's a good story though, I'll admit).

    @Yeetyaah

    Who is the player pictured with Trask?

    Edit: It could be Carter.

    Is Ross Geldenhuys going to be the player who's played for more NZ teams than any other non-NZ (or maybe even NZ) player ever?

    @Stargazer Wiki says Geldenhuys has played for 8 of the 14 SA provinces, which is a great feat.

    Piers Francis has played for 4 different NZ teams - more than Geldenhuys at present.

    @Bovidae I don't trust Wiki; it doesn't even mention he has played for the Canes.

    @Stargazer So that makes 2 NPC teams and 2 SR teams in NZ. At Geldenhuys' age the only reason he would be at the Chiefs is because their 3 AB props aren't training yet, and they need some extra bodies. Cobb would be the same, although at the other end of the age spectrum.

    As for all players, Rico Gear was the ultimate rugby mercenary. It's a shorter list to say who he didn't play for.

    Josh Lord is pretty young, isn't he ? Just 17 years old. Even too young for the Dev. team IMO.

    Blues and Chiefs are splitting the gate and leaving the bar takings to Waihi Rugby Club.

    Cheapskates... the two teams should leave all funds to the local rugby community.

    @Wurzel better than some of the previous pre-season matches, I know when Northland hosted a couple of games several years back they had to pay the Blues for the privilege.

    Yep, we need to know the details about match fees etc.

    Are the teams staying locally or busing in for the day? The Chiefs should spend the week in the area engaging with the community.
