Cricket: NZ vs England

@bayimports The Bay Oval will have more pace and bounce than Seddon Park so if you are wanting to play Ferguson against England this was the test to do it in.
Also, Southee's record at Hamilton is great.
So, if it is going to be a Fergusson for Southee rotation (rather than for the the 3rd or 4th seamer), then Bay Oval was the place to do it.
Southee will probably go fine, though, it seems competition for his spot lifts him above his complacent default plateau. But, I wants me some PACE.
-
Heard Larsen interviewed and they see Santner as a "holding spinner". Dunno why you couldn't play Ferguson and have CdG and Wagner as holding seamers.
I guess the proof will be in the pudding, but I'll be a bit pissed if we get blasted out by Archer and Satnav has a largely fresh air game.
-
@Chris-B I wouldn't describe Wagner as a holding seamer. His job is to intimidate the batsmen and get wickets but he can be expensive.
The majority of the bowling attack and captain are from ND so they should know more about the pitches used in these 2 tests than anyone else. I still don't agree with their decision though.

Whilst I agree with the discontent over the selection I am looking forward to the test and in particular the TSF crew in the crowd who are bound to draw attention to the cameras.
They shouldn't be hard to spot:
No rain cloud is going to ruin my test match.

Unfortunately that is exactly what they do (unless we are losing then they are great).
It also wouldn't have to be a cloud to rile some of us old fcks. Just some grass, a weed, whatever, it's enough for a rant.

so like consistently not being able to make good calls about when to use their umpiring challenges, they potentially also make another consistent poor call on the pitch ..time will tell I guess, but I agree @Bovidae it looks like a missed opportunity already
Boult to Burns, no run, beats the bat, there's an appeal for caught behind... Boult looked uncertain, and New Zealand decide not to review! Excellent delivery, Burns sucked into playing as it zipped through past the outside edge
and so as night follows day.. NZ maintain their shitty calling record
-
It appears we have all the early penetration of @chimoaus when he is tired
-
i know i shouldn't, but i am still offended that CdGH is a first-change test bowler.
And he's jagged a wicket too the jammy prick.
Also, do you think that cricinfo have a macro that auto-fills the commentary with "Wagner to Burns, no run, short again"
-
@mariner4life He's jagged 36 test wickets....averaging just a fraction over 30.
He's also averaging nearly 40 with the bat.
He's pushing John Reid and Chris Cairns out of our all time team!

Sub 30 average with the ball now...
900 runs @ 39 and 37 wickets @ 29,
Cairnsy who!
