Lots of mentions of arrests but just the one mentioning an actual conviction. Still where there is smoke there is always fire. Surprising that he was given a visa to enter NZ let alone a work permit.

@Bovidae I hope this guy works out, there are plenty of sportsmen that behave pretty poorly off the court/field. It seems the majority of writers are licking their lips just waiting for Rice to fail.....but that seems to be the NZ sports landscape!

I kinda feel like we need more size, particularly in the defensive end...might help pick up some defensive boards too!

@OleOleOle Agree, a scoring PF or C would have been better.

LaMelo Ball can play! He put on a clinic up here on Saturday night, just owned us. He's got a weird shooting style, but it's pretty bloody good.

Cairns destroyed in the rebounds, and couldn't shoot a 3, and so it's a 10 point loss. In a game i sort of expected to win (but probably shouldn't, because Illawarra always come up here and win, even when they are shit).

The Hawks really should be doing better than they have so far this year. Their team is pretty good, 3 good bigs, a reliable perimeter shooter in Blanchfield, and a star in Ball. Probably the same as us, they are a bit shallow to compete with the really good teams.

no, he sort of just chucks it up, from pretty low as well, with heaps of loop, but it's pretty fucking accurate.

As good as he and his brother are, it's crazy that neither of them learned good shooting fundamentals. He better develop a higher release if he wants to thrive in the NBA

He has good size for a guard and he’s quick with the side step back, so I think he will he be okay.

Glen Rice Jr was arrested after a fight outside an Auckland bar in the early hours of Thursday morning. He has travelled to Perth.

I am shocked . Who could have predicted this?

17,500 turn up to watch the Kings beat the Hawks yesterday. Ball is a hell of a drawcard. And the pathway is looking good too, as it is obvious he is getting better with each game, especially on defense.

Taipans beat the Bullets pretty easily on Saturday. But the Bullets had a few out, Gliddon didn't suit up, while both Vikona and Te Rangi barely played.

@mariner4life Obviously keeping their powder dry and rest and rotation of players backfired in this instance. Still you must be pleased at how much more competitive your Taipans have become this season. Just how big is Nate Jawai in person? He looks huge on TV.

fucking. Massive. Obviously he's tall, but he's also a solid unit.

I really like our team this year. Less Perth cast-off scrubs than last year (although i would be happier if Jarrod Kenny got zero minutes). Machado is our best PG since Wilbekin, his passing is unreal, and he's a great defender. Cam Oliver is built like blindside, has a heap of talent, but needs to cut out the dumb fouls. Noi and Deng are both tall guys with great shooting. DJ Newbill is having a ripper of a year (check our his dunk on Sobey on saturday, brutal). Nate is good when he is at the rim pushing guys around. But we are really shallow. Good enough to come 5th, but that will be our ceiling.

Yep not good signs coming out of the club at the moment either on or off the court.

We know the Blackwells pretty well. They will be shaking their heads (from a distance) at what is going on there of late.

I feel a little sorry for Matt Walsh as Shamir would have been the person pushing for Rice Jr to join the team out of desperation. He (Walsh) put systems in place for Rice Jr like living with a Breakers staffer and not having a car but has been let down. Maybe this was entirely predictable based on previous behaviour but they are meant to be adults.

Still, changes are needed as McFadden says.

@Bovidae A real shame considering the Blackwells ran the club with high ideals of character and family

@Bovidae I agree. It's a different direction but not necessarily a bad one. They got totally screwed by Rice, and the other guy made a dumb decision. Booze and sleeping pills!? Ffs
I've heard quite a few interviews with Walsh and quite like his approach. He's pretty up front about things. I wonder if the coach has been the major force altering the culture?
