Clive Woodward’s classless comments sums up why it’s so hard for Wales fans to support England

Ifan Morgan Jones The insistence that Welsh fans support England when they get further at a Football or Rugby World Cup has always struck me as an odd one. Wales and England are rivals in sport. Geographic proximity in sport doesn’t mean support like each other – quite the opposite in fact. No one...

Amazing how England struggle to make metres against a non-passive defence... 🤷‍♂️

Yes, Boks advanced 5m before tackle so that even if English made a metre or two in contact the net effect was losing ground.

This is the worst scrum I've seen in international rugby for years

Malherbe exposing Vunipola's fragility which has been there for years. Owen must be enjoying.

@sparky Yes. To you rugby tragics, trench warfare is great. For 80% of the viewing public, they want to see ball movement, sweeping backline moves and tries.

Well, Rugby has at least one new fan:

Watching how the Boks beat England makes me think that the biggest work for the next All Blacks coach will be how to change a passive defence into a rush defence. Every team on this earth does not know how to cope with the latter. One of the reasons why the All Blacks lost last week was their incapacity to cope with the aggressive English defence. The same happened today to the Poms.

Congratulations Boks, so happy for you, Siya such a humble guy , impossible to dislike him.

Also kind of nice that ABs did beat them at this years World Cup.

Hopefully this puts an end to all the fingerpointing and blame from some AB fans, every game is different. I think England played their final last week, and unfortunately we had our two finals against SA and Ireland, maybe even the Bled as well, super hard to lift that many times in a few weeks. Boks timed their run beautifully.

Funny... All over the news here about the monster South African forwards. Didn't I see a stat flash up to show England pack at 920 vs 900?

I don't think the Boks weights are accurate.

Going by wikipedia weights they say 937kg. Which seems more accurate.

Also had 6 forwards on the bench.

New Zealand's pack was heavier than England's too. It's not about size, it's how you use it.

Funny old game when the Boks lose to us, scrape past the Welsh then make England look like boys in the final.

    Congrats SA, well played!

Was looking at odds before the game...
    H2H was about $2.50
    1-12 was $3.60
    13+ was about $5

I went for the only one that wouldn't get a payout last night..haha

👏🏼 SA welcome to the triple club, very exclusive you know! Thete is a new rule about the triple club, as the newest member, you dont talk about Triple Club!

    This from Matt Dawson:

"I don't know where this has come from. It's come from the gods. Their defensive line, their line speed, their discipline, their energy, has been simply fantastic. England have no answer. An amazing performance from a Springbok team who everybody wrote off."

Only a disrespectful prick who knows bugger-all about Rugby would ever write the Boks off.

I have no idea either. I saw England listed as form favourites but I thought S.A. were at LEAST even money. And so it was!

"Controversy". I didn't detect any but apparently there was.

Mrs Boo didn't last the match last night so I mention this morning "So the slightly less bad guys won".

She says (having checked news web sites) "Quite controversial apparently". Seems she had read some comment about "Kiwi TMO" Skeenie and forward passes. I've been hunting for said comments but can't find anything.

I can only assume it was referring to the Marx pass to Mapimpi that they had a close look at. From behind (which was the angle they seemed to concentrate on) it looked line ball at worst. From side on it goes backwards. Not much controversial in that.

Did see Stuff.co.nz have a reference to "controversial" in the banner headline that flashed up when I clicked on them, but could find no further reference.

Has there been much comment on the scrum officiating?

All looked clean and good to me.

@booboo there will always be some that see controversy...I saw a comment re Garces should never ref again (not in a humorous way given he is retiring)

Australian. Long time contributor here, and I've had my share of disagreements with these kiwi bastards but I'm not about to spout fuckwit statements like "not world champs to me".
