He's a 'Skills coach' now too I think - similar to Cron, he wanted a better position, and similar to Cron wasn't prepared to go and earn it with a Super team first. We let Mick go but promoted Cron..
This is what I don't understand. Obviously I'm not in the environment, but it's a reasonable question to ask where you demonstrated a capability to be the coach with a broader portfolio.

I agree completely.

@antipodean dunno, Aaron Smith been around most of that time, and his kicking has ranged form sublime to WTF.

Sometimes in the one match. His kicking was pretty good against Ireland in the QF from memory.

@antipodean for the first time in a very long time...

Whats also of interest to me is if the support staff will be kept on/want to stay on. Physio/S and C/Dietician/manager etc. A lot have been with the team since GH early days.
-
@Magpie_in_aus the link I posted above indicated the new guy comes in with his full team, but you'd think some of them like Gill, Enoka would simply stay with whoever takes over?
-
One New Zealand Rugby board member in the loop is said to have been very excited by the level of support Foster has assembled, while another source indicated it was an "impressive" group.
-
Foster could be assisted by Bruce Banner (forwards), Tony Stark (backs) and Steve Rogers (motivation & leadership) and i would still despair

@mariner4life I'm glad you didn't mention Thor. We don't want any Aussie assistant coaches.

could be considered for a strength and conditioning role, but not the guy you want coming up with the strategy.
-
@mariner4life I'm gonna take a wait and see approach.
If he has the right people around hiim, then it could well work....plus no amount of ranting or angst will change whatever decision the fish heads in Wellington make!

hi TR, welcome to The Silver Fern. Interesting first post, but that's not really how we do things around here. Don't worry, you'll pick it up pretty quick

@mariner4life meh....my hands have been wrung enough...surely with Foz at the helm it will make selections as exciting as they have been the last couple of weeks!!

Good for sorting out a party too.

The sauce I got is that John Mitchell will be joining him with Halligan as kicking coach.

this is because none of you fuckers had to suffer the Fozzie years at the Chiefs.
Shit at set piece. No real structure, especially on defense, not great at the breakdown, but capable of some breathlessly exciting attacking play (which wouldn't come out until there was no chance of us playing finals).
-
@mariner4life Foz, Razor, Brown, Mitchell...what could go wrong!
-
@antipodean Yeah, if Hinton does know more he isn't reporting it. All based on second-hand information but it will get people speculating.
