World Cup Final match thread
-

Honestly Barbarian, aside from a few dicks on both side (every country has them), for the most part I really think it's just that people don't want to let go of the cup and go back to normal life! There isn't much to argue about right now, so the very few incidents from the game with any semblance of opaqueness get argued about, and any answer given to an interviewer gets dissected and twisted. Time to give the F5 button a rest and refocus on life outside of rugby and the fern...

..until the cricket starts tomorrow anyway.
-

Latest Cricinfo headline:

Warner hits back at 'immature' McCullum

Now there's a pot calling the kettle black...

Hurrah, something new to argue about :)
-

The cricket starts tomorrow, so I guess we'll soon have David Warner and co to fire up about. The whole three day gap between seasons has caught us all out... :)

I found myself watching Lawn Bowls on TV last night. And getting into it.

It's just getting a bit weird here, considering you guys won comfortably and have absolutely nothing to complain about.

So some posters are trying desperately to cling onto something to get up in arms about. Stuff like the Carter line in the Cheika presser (in which he fellated the ABs for about half an hour), or the idea the the Wallabies got the rub of the green with the ref (not 'robbed' or anything, just got the rub of the green), or Kepu's on-field behaviour (elements of which happens every game from both sides).

It's not a Kiwi thing (G&GR is still rolling with similar craziness), more an internet thing in general. I'm not saying I am immune to that, but it is interesting to watch as an outsider.

Personally, I'm happy as a pig in shit about our win, nothing that Chieka says, or is written on here is going to change that fact, but this place is built on people disagreeing with each other.

Even, in a "can't we be better than this" post you've left some rancid bait in the form of:

or Kepu's on-field behaviour (elements of which happens every game from both sides).

You know darn well that Kepu was an anomaly in this match. I assume you're just doing your best to move the thread along (and you can hardly consider your self an outsider). ;)
-

Thank christ for the NBA/NFL/NBL filling in the past couple of days.

And now it's cricket season

Fuck i have David Warner, what a complete fluffybunny. If he gets runs tomorrow i am going to be pissed. We were starting to run out of Aussies to hate now that all the bitter old fluffybunnies have retired, and been replaced with people no one has ever heard of. But thankfully Warner has been elevated to VC so he gets heaps of air time and he can crap on about what aggressive cricketers they are. You fucking fluffybunny.
-

He is a tool alright. I love that "McCullum has never played in the Ashes so he isn't qualified to comment on them" concept. What a genius.

fark kiwis are a bunch of subdued farkers. gotta love it. Chuck the boys on the back of a truck / ute. Everyone follow them down the road or just stand outside office clap politely. maybe a "YAY" if you're lucky.

If by interesting you mean fucking weird, pointless and more than a little embarrassing then having waded through 120 pages of this stuff both here and on G&GR I must (along with question my sanity) agree with you.

It's a minority but man they're tenacious little fuckers - on both sides of the ditch.

As has been said roll on the cricket. I'm sure that will give us all plenty of opportunities to go all rabidly mouth foaming.

what more would you have wanted? For them to fly Taylor Swift down to MC it instead of Sumo? $500k worth of fireworks during the day? Jetpacks so Sir Richie could fly over everybody whilst holding the cup?
-

I'd love for us to win a series without any sledging, and with Dave Warner politely clapping every half-century scored by a Kiwi.

au contraire my bitter little New South Welshman, i would heartily applaud the fact that the current Australian team has finally managed to emerge from the muck and have evolved in to something resembling a modern sports team.

A sound system that worked properly (when Richie was speaking)? :)

A marching band? A double decker bus? Some pomp and ceremony?

It looked a bit 1960s to me, "Here boys, climb on the back of me ute and we'll drive down the road to the local war memorial hall. We'll get the Chairman of the District Council to make a bit of a speech and give the captain a bottle of Johnnie Walker in a paper bag". Nobody dress up. Ladies a plate, please.

They're Aucklanders - they can't do anything right! :)

To be fair, I wasn't there - maybe there were highlights that I didn't see. But, from what I did see, if I were an Auckland ratepayer I wouldn't have been overly concerned that the budget had been blown.
-
2011 in Wellington I'd have no idea if they were in utes (probably) or on unicorns (possibly) because there were 150,000 people blocking the view of anything below shoulder height.

Aren't the utes supplied by a sponsor?
