Just a week to go and Winger takes a 2 point lead into it with Bay Imports in 2nd and he is 4 ahead of Propsicle and Victor. Hooroo and Higgins are 4 further back and maybe it is too much ground for anyone below these to make up. Best for th weekend were Hooroo, Hydro11, FarNthHayden & Caprice with 59 points although their gain was not great as 21 people scored 50 or more. FNH was the only picker to get 7 from 7 but didn't get a category pick.

If next week is that predictable, it will come down to margins and those category picks to decide the winner.

The first leg scores were also predictable with the top seeds all winning. Wellington take just a point advantage into the 2nd game while the other leads are more comfortable.

    Wellington 53 - 52 Wairarapa Bush
    Hawke's Bay 48 - 44 South Island
    Northland 49 - 40 Counties-Waikato
    BOP 47 - 44 Harbour-Auckland

Not much change at the top as all of the top 10 missed the 9-16 margin ... except Hooroo who is now only 7 off the lead although still back in 5th. The Bush draw level with Wellington in the final. All the leaders went BOP as top scorers (very unlikely) and Southland as low scorers (still possible) so that won't change much in the table.

    Wellington 7 - 8 Wairarapa Bush
    Hawke's Bay 6 - 7 South Island
    Northland 8 - 9 Counties-Waikato
    BOP 6 - 3 Harbour-Auckland

    Wellington 60 - 60 Wairarapa Bush
    Hawke's Bay 54 - 51 South Island
    Northland 57 - 49 Counties-Waikato
    BOP 53 - 47 Harbour-Auckland

    Name 10 Total
    Winger 7 418
    Bay Imports 7 416
    Propsicle 7 412
    Victor 7 412
    Hooroo 10 411
    Higgins 7 408
    Buck 7 405
    Stargazer 7 403
    Canes4life 7 401
    Tim 7 398

And after the closest finish in many years, they can't be split. Bay Imports gets 7 from the final game to Winger's 5 and they share the trophy. Wairarapa Bush overturn their first leg deficit to win by a point from Wellington, well done to that team. Full update tomorrow.

    Wellington 38 - 40 Wairarapa Bush
    Hawke's Bay 40 - 36 South Island
    Northland 42 - 42 Counties-Waikato
    BOP 41 - 25 Harbour-Auckland

    Wellington 91 - 92 Wairarapa Bush
    Hawke's Bay 88 - 80 South Island
    Northland 91 - 82 Counties-Waikato
    BOP 88 - 69 Harbour-Auckland

    Bay Imports 45 454
    Winger 43 454
    Victor 40 445
    Propsicle 38 443
    Higgins 40 441
    Hooroo 38 439
    Stargazer 42 438
    Buck 40 438
    KP 49 436
    Canes4life 37 431

Come on KP, here’s your chance to pick something completely arbitrary like who got their selections in the earliest each week or number of correct 1-8 margin selections - to decide a single winner.

Wait I found something in the small print ....

In the event of a tie, the player who plays on the same team as the organiser of the competition will be declared the winner.

Here's the final, final update - everything is updated on the website now.

In the final weekend, Winger was actually the champion as the clock ticked past 80 minutes in the final game. If Harbour could have held on, there would have been no points awarded and he would have won by 2. However it was not to be and he has to share the trophy with Bay Imports - it has happened before as you no doubt recall, the NPC tipping trophy was shared by Higgins, Donsteppa and myself back in 2008. Victor joined them on the podium in 3rd.

In the final weekend, only Sportboy picked 7/7 bravely backing the Taniwha to win - he was beaten for top score by FarNthHayden who had Ta$man as the high scorers.

Wairarapa Bush also left it late to beat Wellington by just a point in the final. They did it with consistency, every scoring player getting between 38 and 42 - Wellington had to count a pair of 34s and that was the difference.

See you all again in 3 months or so when it will be time to register for Super Rugby tipping 2020.

Thanks KP (and Duluth?) for another outstandingly run competition. It's always fun (Ive only missed one) even when I do poorly. Like the last super competition where I was poor almost every week. Shame Wellington missed out (its a bit like the team) but well done to Wairarapa-Bush.
