In pool play since 1987, the All Blacks have beaten: Italy, Fiji, Argentina, England, USA, Italy, Ireland, Wales, Japan, Tonga, England, Italy, Italy, Canada, Tonga, Wales, Italy, Portugal, Scotland, Romania, Tonga, Japan, France, Canada, Argentina, Namibia, Georgia, Tonga, South Africa, Canada and Namibia.
Damn Typhoon.
We’ve never had Australia in our pool. Quite interesting given that we’ve had everyone else.
Spain
Zimbabwe
Russia

...Samoa? Fiji?

We had Fiji in 1987 in Christchurch. But it is kind of crazy that those two have been at every RWC since and we have never drawn either, while having Tonga in 99, 03, 11 & 15 and a standing appointment with Italy too!
I don't think we have ever been able to draw Australia. They've always been a top 4 seed at the time of the draw since 03. And in the early years were either gerrymandered away from them where there were multiple hosts (87, 91, 99), and also finished top 4 in 1991 which dictated the 1995 seedings.
-
Just hope the cancellations don't cause any controversy in Pool A.
There's been enough issues with reffing the tackle area without teams bitching about losing a QF place due to a cancelled match

1999 was probably the only possibility, as Aust needed to play qualifiers, but they had 5 pools in that RWC for some reason.

When is the team named?

When is the referee named more importantly?

"To Be Advised" firming as Ireland by the looks of some of that weather ...
Has that shit hit Yokohama? Would be surprised if the city is in any fit state to host a rugby match for a few days.
Would be 16 points each to Japan and Oireland with Japan getting the nod on the who beat who.

Didn't realise how close Yokohama is to Tokyo. 22km apparently.
So a fair bet that it has.

It's a 45 minute train ride. Almost like an extension of Tokyo. Judging from that video from yesterday of the Japanese players wading through water in the tunnel to the pitch, I would say conditions will be something resembling the Scots vs ABs at Eden Park

I predict we'll play Japan. I fancy Scotland to win a dour weather affected contest, but Japan to be within 7.
I am hearing that the game is likely to be going ahead.
Brian Moore said he heard it's cancelled, so that is good enough for me to say it's on.

The permutations for us to play Japan please?
Anyone?....bueller?....
I've only just twigged to losing bonus points so am in need of info from cleverer people

Basically if Japan wins or draws, we end up playing Ireland.

Basically if Japan wins or draws, we end up playing Ireland.
And if Scotland win:
- by 8+; or
*with a BP; or
- by 1-7 but with 4 tries (Japan not also getting 4 tries).
Then we play Scotland.
If Japan win or draw, or score 2 BPs then we play Ireland.
If Japan loses by less than 7, and Scotland don't get a 4 try BP then we play Japan.
If Japan gets 2 BPs then we play Ireland.
Clear?

Lots of chat on who we'd rather face.
Prefer in order
Scotland
Japan/Ireland (I can't separate)Honestly, if Ireland keep us to 9 points, they deserve to win. Can't see it happening though, our forwards were pants against them last time. In some ways, Japan wiht a strong crowd and nothing to lose could be scarier.
