2019 Rugby World Cup

While I am not buying anyone dropping a game to avoid anyone else, but, what if both teams looked at this game as one to lose....
-
Assistant coach Andy Farrell said Ireland were as keen as World Rugby for the game to be played. A potential cancellation could knock Ireland out if Scotland were to beat Japan in a possible Pool A decider in the last pool game of the tournament.
haha, wouldnt that be amusing....Japan would still qualify top I assume, setting up a mouthwatering clash for event organisers

Biiiiig typhoon coming.
Will maybe cause trouble for us, but especially Ireland/Samoa also looking like trouble. If it were a draw, we don’t lose Ireland though, right?
Doesn't look like it will pose the problem some think it will for Fukuoka:
If it did become cancelled and they shared the points with Samoa for the draw, they could miss out on the quarters if Scotland win their next two matches.
-
Yeah, I thought it would be a bigger problem for us, but the weather man on TV this morning was suggesting that it might move a bit slower and go further west, in which case it could cause big trouble for Kyushu. I still think Fukuoka should be OK though, but things might get very bumpy in Miyazaki.

So anyway, what happened to the covering up of tattoos?
I expect that management have worked out which onsen they can attend and advised accordingly.
A couple of our players had to cover their tattoos with strapping tape in our own hotel.

Yeah, I have this big sticking plaster thing which I usually have to put on my arm when I use the bath after playing golf.
-
Hell yes, let's change more rules - because they haven't been changed for a while - and get more stoppages!

Have horizontal lines sprayed on to the field one metre apart.

Start calling assistant refs linesmen again, and actually make them do their job
-
@Stargazer or they could try policing the current offside lines better...that would be a nightmare.
Refs cop enough shit with current rules and have a tough enough job as it is without making it harder.
-
@taniwharugby Yeah, my thoughts exactly. WR should really stop changing the rules all the time. It's confusing enough as it is; if they keep on changing the rules, nobody knows what they are anymore. I actually feel sorry for the refs.
-
@Stargazer not to mention the lack of genuine assistance they get from, er, the Assistant Refs.
Ref is checking off sides, gates, last feet, hands, where ball is, other team off side, has the 9 picked it up...
AR is looking to see if someone grabbed someone's Jersey or pushed someone.
-
The ARs are responsible for more offside calls away from the breakdown during a game than the refs are. I listen to Sports Ears at SR games, and always listen to the ref's feed. You regularly hear communication from the ARs to the ref, although sometimes the ref chooses to ignore the advice. The RWC wouldn't be any different.
My biggest criticism is that the ARs don't tell the ref enough when the opposition defensive lines are offside from rucks, or players are in front of kickers. If those of us at the game can see this clearly so should the officials!

I personally think that if we’ll have only one ref, we should have four linesman - two upfield on touch and two inline with the defense on offsides.
