RWC ticket strategy

Not sure if I should post this here?
Anyway:
As it happens I’ll be on a work trip for a conference starting after the weekend of the semi’s.I’ll probably be flying in on the morning of SF1, which even though I shouldn’t jinx given our history at rwc’s, if we do make it past the QF’s would be the one we’re in.
Tickets currently unavailable on official site, looked at stubhub (mark up looks to be 150-250%) but also read any scalped tickets would be cancelled.
Don’t want to support scalpers but:
Not going to a game while in Tokyo on that day is not really an option so interested into whether there is any advice on strategy - wait for official resales / eligibility or buy unofficial?
Am worried if it ends up being us v England that there might be no chance in a blue moon of finding anything later down the track.

@dejo My experience of showing up on the day has been pretty good. I failed to get a ticket at Twickenham once years ago - could have got one but was crazy money.
French guy in 1999 (that match didn't actually happen of course) sold to me at face value and sat next to us, a proper rugby fan with 2 spare tickets - so not really a scalper.
Got into sold out HK sevens many times without paying over the top to scalpers.
If it turns out us v England you will probably still be able to buy one - at a huge cost. Scalpers are quite often English in my experience.

So I got to "enjoy" the match with a Saffa tour group - which was fine for the first half, and then in the second they started rubbing it in like crazy.

See how the QF match-ups fall because supporters of some teams might have planned on being at one SF but their team is now on the other side of the draw. I'm thinking SA and Aust/Wales. Sometimes they will be able to swap tickets, other times not.
And then fans from teams that lose in the QF might not be that interested to attend the SF. I know what that is like all too well.

Funny that you should say that. The reason I liked the french guy (apart from the tickets) was he was the first one to have a go at the boorish Saffas behind us. Real anti AB vitriol. I think SA had gone out the day before to the Aussies and wobbly Larkham drop goal? These guys were old, drunk and complete arseholes, My French companion told them as much and they threatened him (he wasn't young either) I backed him up (in with a few others around us) and they STFU for the rest of the match.

TBF, my lot was actually fairly good natured, I too was giving it back to them for their exit as well.

@dejo While I think viagogo is a terrible company my experiences with them have actually been good (apart from fees not being noticeable until it's too late). Although that was for HK7's where they are actually the official resales channel.
I would weary of using any of those services for RWC as there policy is consider any tickets sold through those platforms to be invalid.

Speaking from experience, if England lose in QF many of their fans will dump tickets. I came down to NZ in 2011 with five pairs to trade. Quite fun including bartering with French waitresses!
If England through the tickets will be like gold dust. If you want to play safe it may be best to buy now.
Bear in mind that tickets can be put back into pool through Official site so keep checking!
