ITV studio - Maggie Alfonsi, Michael Lynagh, Gareth Thomas, Martyn Bayfield - all saying both should have been red.
Their reasoning, even if the ball carrier had dipped slightly the responsibility is on the tackler to dip more.
Players have a split second to react so it's not that simple.
But I am looking forward to them saying Farrell should be sent off for one of his tackles.
Reaction time doesn't matter when you go in that high, very slim margin of success. The tackler needs to be much more careful, you just can't aim at the shoulders, it's simple.

Not pretty but Russia playing to their strength
Russian 7 my MOTM

Haha did anyone catch what the Russian no6 did at the about the 77:23 minute mark.
Thereโs a ruck and you know when you try and drag an opposing player into the ruck by grabbing them, he did it to one of the Samoan locks. The lock shrugs it off. The no6 then grabs him again and just as the lock tries to whack his arm he lets go and the lock whacks one of his own players connected to the ruck.
Russian no6 smiles and looks at the Samoan lock as if to say, you idiot.

Great post game interview with the Russian captain and fullback. Enthusiasm and honoured.

Much better 2nd half from Samoa after a forgettable 1st half. They showed a bit of resolve on their own line as well despite the Russians not throwing a hell of a lot at them.
Injury list not good for Samoa but I still think people are sleeping on them in this pool.
Kane Leaupepe MOTM for me.

@Disgusted-of-TW I was referring to Lee-Lo's YC. IIRC Matu'u used to like the big hit when playing for Wellington/Hurricanes so has a reputation there, and poor technique.
-
It will be interesting to see what the citing commissioner is going to do.

I'm still wondering whether it shouldn't have been red for Matu'u.
-
@Stargazer I don't think Lee Lo's was that bad personally. Matu'u however could get a decent holiday for his. I wouldn't have complained if it were red.

Samoa extremely lucky not to see at least one red card there.
I thought the first one was probably worse - Samoan player did not at any point put themself at a safe height to make contact.
Actually, both of them were riding above the nipple line from the start. Could easily have finished the game with 13 men

He did fail his HIA.
He seemed keen to return before being convinced not to. Maybe the HIA was done after that.

They could have used the "didn't mean to" defence that is being used for Hodge by all the Aussie comms.

But this is exactly the point: if Hodge goes through the citing process now, those tackles easily meet the mark as well.
