@NTA What's your call NTA? Penalty only?
Reckon @NTA thinks Mo'unga should have been Red Carded for holding on.
Nah, he's not a Barrett

Just read elsewhere the officials missed the clear knock on by Kolbe when he throws ball forward before going into touch, BB runs it out from goal line and subsequent play we pass it to the SA player in our backline. Should have been our advantage and back for knock on.
No way. Advantage was well and truly over by the time of the intercept.

But surely the "intercept" was made by a guy who was still running back from an offside position from the previous ruck? In fact most of the SA defence was offside ....

That's a different issue.
I wasn't sure. Not do clear. He would be put onside once a ball carrier runs 5m with the ball in hand.

@booboo I like how they still mention the 'big Bokke pack' yet our pack was bigger...getting much like 'French flair' and the 'Argentine scrum'
For all the shit Scott Barrett has copped, he stood up big time.
All weights, not enough speed work

Watched the game again , that helter skelter looking start from us ,
Although it looked messy, is there a definitive ploy to move the game away from structure where most of our rivals are more comfortable, and deliberately make it more chaotic to take them out of their comfort zones.
Of course also extended the length of time the ball was in play and you could see that starting to drain legs. Cue traditional Bok counter-tactic of regular injury breaks and taking 2 hours to form a lineout.
As much as Scott Barrett had a very good spell at flanker, I thought ABs didn't control breakdown as effectively without Cane on the field in second half, and that made it closer.

Saying a ref favours the ABs is pretty disrespectful to all of the professional refs. For starters that Barnes game and the Lions non offside penalty are two howlers that cost us big time.
Tbh I think itβs swings and roundabouts, If I gave a bigger fuck I would go through the game and highlight the poor calls against the ABs. From what I remember the penalty against Whitelock for interfering in the lineout was a shocker, in replay he makes an effort to avoid the bok lock.
I think the penalty was against Patty T who took a lifter out. But you never know with Garces.
One non-call that pissed me off was a high tackle on Ardie where the Bok player had him in a headlock.
Just watching the highlights on Fox.
Definitely got the impression Faeces signalled it against Sam.
And there was absolutely no contact initiated by the ABs. Pat T was lifting in front of SW and the Boks dropped their jumper on him.
Back to being a bullshit decision.

On replay I reckon we had gone forward enough that he had actually got behind the line of the hindmost foot.

Great how we just turn the jets on for 20 minutes or so, just to give the opposition a taste of the powder, then put it away again

@taniwharugby bang on. French refs are like the weather and the bounce of the ball: if you lose cause they didnβt go your way, you werenβt good enough.

Like the way the ref let the game flow.
Next step, no ref at all.
Pretty much what you get with Garces, with some random interruptions.

The try to the bok 7 was fairly inevitable, we were committing one player to the ruck and then none for two in a row and then he scored.
Yeah, basically Scott Barrett moved exactly from that spot to a position outside Smith just before PSDT picked up the ball.

@Damo I wondered if the ALB tackle/ruck redefines an offside line making the interceptor a lazy runner, as he was coming back from the kolbe knock on.
Dunno, but it looked wrong
It looked wrong sure.
However a player can be put onside after a ruck by retreating to the line of the ruck, OR by a ball carrier running 5m with the ball. I didn't see it close enough to definitely say neither of those things happened.

Now that was the biggest joke of a penalty.
Bok lifters drop player and ABs penalised.
This. Fuck Garces.
Hah!! My auto correct wants to replace the Refs surname with "Faeces".
Sounds perfect to me

First time I think Iβve seen our scrum dominate the boks. Massive effort.
Can't say I agree. Felt the Boks were on top in most scrums and Moody was fairly lucky not to get penalised in the first two scrums. Not convinced about Angus. Ofa is a better tighthead than a loosehead so they would have been better off selecting him as the reserve tighthead imo and picking big Karl as the reserve loosehead.

Agreed. Our scrum looked shaky all game and we were lucky to win a couple of pks for it. Needs to improve.
