Tasman vs North Harbour

@Stargazer He's always run very upright though, whether the service today has been poor for him or not, rugby league style. As @Steven-Harris said, he'll always give 100%, but it's not just today that he's been caught running high.

@Nepia one thing I respect about Taufua he gives 100% every time he takes the field..,not at his best body of work today..but still on the field and still going at 100%...
I was speaking in general terms not specifically about Taufua.

@Stargazer I thought Christie was not great today, a credit to Harbour putting on heaps of pressure at Breakdown.

@Nepia all good...I got a precious on that one..Got plenty of time for Taufua..he plays well above his physical stature ..
I’m not a huge fan, think he’s slightly overrated and always though he should have converted to 7 ... but that’s just my opinion, I know he’s got his fans out there.

Well, the first half was shit. Big Karl showing he's ready for a trip to Japan if necessary - and the Mako showing they need some of their first string front row firepower back.
Second half was a lot better, but attack still looked laboured and set piece a bit dysfunctional. Dare I say it, that we missed Mitch Hunt quite badly. I would have given Leicester some DM points.
In the end, I think better fitness and better bench depth got it over the line for Ta$man.
Freddie doesn't have much to say about this one.
"The show must go on"!

Yeah - though he wasn't helped by the Mako forwards standing there looking at the ruck and waiting for NH to lock onto the ball.
First half - done in the scrums, done at the breakdown, and a lineout shambles.

So the Harbour guy gets binned for a penalty try but Ta$man don't get a player carded when they concede a penalty try.
Even though Ta$man is my team - in principle I don't really mind that.
If you're getting done over at the scrum, you don't really have a choice about standing up/collapsing/folding in. You're not necessarily cheating intentionally - you're just getting dominated.
In fact, the rules surrounding it are a bit dodgy - because often you have a scrum that's getting dominated - you send a prop to the bin and then require a weak scrum to front up with seven men, which seems bloody dangerous to me.

That's not necessarily true - it's certainly possible you are cheating intentionally to avoid a pushover try.
The optics aren't great when right before that scrum the ref had warned the Ta$man captain about how further penalties would result in a Ta$man player going to the bin.

@KiwiMurph I don't think Ta$man were intentionally cheating though - it was pretty clear that their scrum was getting dominated, but trying to hold up - and that Harbour was scrumming for the penalty.
Ta$man wasn't just immediately folding - they were holding initially and plenty of opportunity for Harbour to have cleared the ball if they wanted - they didn't want to.
