@Chris-B Haha, solid gold and kauri, I hope.

    Balsa and coat hangers.

@Stargazer said in Mitre 10 Cup - news, injuries etc:

Canterbury have been the holders since 23 September 2017.

I'm not sure that anyone else wants it.

@Stargazer Ah - it was made in 1991, when Women's rugby was in it's infancy.

I'd never heard of it before and assumed it was new. Was wondering how they thought they could roll out something so cheap looking in this day and age.

Full time: Canterbury Women 57 - 19 Wellington Pride.
Canterbury keeps the JJ Stewart Trophy. It will be on the line again on 21 September, when they host Manawatu.

That was the first game of the Farah Palmer Cup. Only three games this weekend, as Manawatu Cyclones have the bye and the Championship Division (only 6 teams) starts next weekend.

It looks like Junior Laloifi didn't make the cut. One of the few standouts for the Turbos last year. If he's not injured, another province who needs a winger/fullback should pick him up.

Look whose name I found on the 11 jersey of the Horowhenua-Kapiti team to play West Coast, last Saturday:

@Stargazer it’s amazing how many good players go unnoticed in the Heartland comp..James Last who plays for Buller and the NZ Heartland XV is bloody good player that runs the cutter really well.
Surprised he’s never been picked up by a Mitre 10 Cup team..if Marty Banks could make it out of Buller, I am sure Mike Lash could be just as successful..
Just not sure of his age.

@Steven-Harris About a year ago, I saw a twitter conversation between James Lash's uncle (Mike Lash, the referee) and someone else about this and I had the impression that James was happy with just playing Heartland for Buller and wasn't looking for a M10 Cup contract. He plays/played sevens for Ta$man as well.

@Stargazer looks like the Debut brothers could almost rival the Barretts.

@Stargazer this is so dumb on many levels, he’s actually a bloody talented player..it’s what a union like Southland not to mention the player himself needed like a hole in the head..

@Steven-Harris Yeah, if found guilty and resulting in a conviction, this could cost him a possibly good career in rugby. Shame.

@Stargazer Only have to look to Reece's situation to know that this prick won't get a conviction.

@Yeetyaah Gee I’m not so sure, the nature of the offence could be a telling factor..it’s not gonna be a good look if for instance he gets some sort of suspended or supervised sentence.

You clearly didn't know some of the girls I did when in my teens.

Don't the courts have a rugby player clause / precedent to let him off these days?
