@nzzp I feel Wellington really need to rack the points up early going forward as they don't seem to have too much of a bench.
Early = Game 3 of 10

As I said last week, this is not a strong Canterbury side compared to teams of the past..there not the worst by any stretch they just don’t have the real super rugby quality players they have had in recent times..
On saying that all the talk of them as being relegated is just rubbish..These are their cross over games..
Southland
Manawatu
Northland (away)
Otago (RS) (away)And their remaining Premiership games.
Nth Harbour (home)
Counties (home)
Auckland (away)More than capable of winning all these games ..

@DrivingMaul I reckon they’ll be in the top 4 at seasons end, never write off a Canterbury team no matter how bad they look atm.

Agree we can win all our remaining games, qualify for the finals, and then anything can happen particularly if we gel as a team. And that for me is the biggest issue.
We've been fucking hard to watch thus far. I think our biggest issue is combinations, or lack there of. I think we've had three different midfield combinations thus far or certainly two and also changes in midfield cover off the bench. 12 seems to be a problem area and really shouldn't be given the options available. It might be that development goes out the window from next week and we see Ennor at 13 and Bateman shift in one spot. Then either Poihipi, Finau or McLeod takes the bench spot. We've also used three different guys to partner Romano but now Dunshea is back and performing as he did last night we should be right there. But for fucks sake, Prinsep is not a lock or lock cover. Give Will Tucker a go off the bench.
There are other niggles too, but i think we improved last night, just need to stick with some combinations and get a good win on the board Saturday vs the Stags and we should be away.

Going back through the last few years, it looks like 6 wins and about 31-34 points is needed to get into the playoffs. So really Canterbury is now in double elimination - lose 1 and it's likely to make playoffs; lose 2 and that's all she wrote.
That said, in a 7 team comp, getting to the top 4 should be achievable, even with an 0-3 start.

After all the hype on here Dallas Mcleod was bloody terrible.
I was looking forward to seeing how he'd go. Don't know if I've seen any actual hype though. But yeah he was very ordinary. Fell off an important tackle and just looked out of his depth in general, but not a terribly big snapshot.

@SammyC I already said that during the JWC on the NZ U20s thread. He and Burke, not up to NPC level yet, let alone SR level. No doubt, will get a chance to improve and should be assessed at the end of the season to see how much they've learned. Agree with @shark that I haven't seen any hype on the Fern.

Capable, yes. But after losing to Waikato and Wellington, I wouldn't bet my house on it. The Mooloos are worse than most of the teams listed.
