Benji Marshall brings up his 300th game today. While Cam Smith is the greatest player of all time, Benji is up there as one of the most influential. I would say it is between him and Joey Johns.

They're big names but none of those three beat Benji or Joey.

    I agree with that @Sneakdefreak

So many kids wanting to do the Benji move. But more than that his success at the Tigers in the grand final run showed the Aussies he wasn’t just another flash in the pan kiwi that so many OZ “greats” and commentators would often speak of.

    SBW would be up there.

@Dice in the mix but very much a player of his time. No shoulder charges cut out a lot of his sizzle, but his offload would have continued to be primo

    Gold Coast sack Brennan

The Gold Coast is even worse than Auckland for eating professional sportsmen alive. Everything that goes there sucks. Hard.

In any code. It's the sporting Bermuda triangle.

The Suns have a dogshit list, and were at least competitive in the first half of the season. They are cooked now, and even their effort has gone.

The Titans on the other hand have an ok roster, but there is nobody there playing well except maybe Arrow, who is injured.

@mariner4life I don't follow AFL but why does the Gold Coast even have a team? I was there last year, barely saw any advertising of the side and went and watched them play Collingwood at Metricon infront of about 5000 people, yet more than half of them were Collingwood fans. Seems like a waste of time having a team there but I may be wrong.

@African-Monkey they actually get decent crowds considering their location and their results.

You can see why administrators want to crack the Coast, big area lots of money.

    @African-Monkey

Reckon most of it is the ex-pat Victorians who have moved to the Goldy.

As you say most of the fans at Collingwood v Suns were Collingwood fans. I'd suggest the majority were Gold Coast residents.

They'll attract the ex-Vic crowd supporting their old team and hope the Suns become their second team. And hope their kids start supporting the Suns.

    That's my theory anyway.

every week the game they play in , is probably the game of the round that less people give a fuck about,

bit of a difficult one for the AFL,

but the Brisbane Bears were a bit like that in the beginning

Could see Gold Coast relocating to Brisbane to become a second team there (sharing time between both venues). For whatever reason teams on the Gold Coast don't work.

Bring back the South Queensland Crushers!

@Sneakdefreak My mate's uncle is apparently putting together a new team for Brisbane. Brisbane Bombers.

New training facility and purpose-built stadium I think near the airport. I already have some kit I wear proudly haha OG supporter.
