One of the guys in my group is 76 years old. Plays 4 times a week and every shot is laser straight. Incredible.

Played yesterday but after disastrous round that included 39 putts. Last time out was 40 putts. Neither had a single 1 putt......

Been the similar for the past 7 or 8 rounds. Use to average 30-34 putts but no its over 2 a fkn hole!

Welcome to my golf world!

Decided I'm gonna get back into golf a bit more this summer. -

Have booked a lesson with one of the local pros (Zaine Mickleson) and gonna try sort out my putting issues with him. Have met him a few times before down the range and he seems a good chap. Laughed pretty hard when I told him I was on a 10 handicap and how many putts I was having in my round rounds low high 70s, low 80s.

-

I actually played some half decent golf on Friday. Still a number of duffs and wayward irons, but enough good in there to regularly contribute. Highlight was on one hole i put my drive on the fairway 100 out, so we took that. i then 9-ironed to inside 2-feet. And then i putted it in for our only birdy of the day. Felt like a fucking pro. I'd probably had 6 beers by then too.

-

Had the lesson and got some good tips but hasnt helped a lot as yet.

Had shocking round at Muriwai on the weekend. Opened with a half century on the front 9 that included 5 3 putts in first 7 holes. 15 putts coming home which was a bit better but 39 overall. Still shit golf other than from the tee block with either 3 wood or driver in hand as hit over 80% of fairways. Picked up longest drive but only had 30 stableford.

Then yesterday in monthly open at my favoured Pupuke course I had the same - 30 stableford but longest drive. This time 41 fkn putts + some pretty average play off the tee.as only hit just over 50% of fairways.

Think officially in a golfing rut right now
-

me too!

I know what you mean.

I had someone ever so slightly change my grip when putting and now it is the strongest part of my game. Even when the initial change took place in the uncomfortable stage my putting bettered the first round. It's natural now and I'm confident around the 4-6 foot mark rather than hopeful. If I can see there is no break, I'm confident from about 15-20 foot
-

I'm confident standing over most 6-8 foot putts to, just doesn't help the ball get in the hole :)

Part of my problem is I know probably too much about the mechanics and what is wrong with my swing (even though I know it has changed slightly over the years) having had a lot of coaching in my better years, not to mention helping the pro out with the coaching clinics for kids, in hindsight, was probably one of the worst things for my game.
-

Did the 100 holes at Wairakei on Friday. Great course. Not long but well done with some pretty cute par 4s in that 280-350m range that can get you in to trouble if you dont put the ball in the right place.

Overall I played well and cured my golfing rut. Drove the ball pretty well off the tee and putted OK but was hitting the irons mean as and managed to put a lot of my approach shots pretty close to the pin. Out of the 100 I parred 46 of them and had 7 birdies. Lost 4 balls so not too bad considering the lack of time to look for them.

A couple of shots of course below

Golf eh? What a bloody shitpot game.

Ten days ago I played in an invitational tournament and couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo. 5 days later playing in a nothing 9 hole early morning get together and played bloody well. Please explain.
-

Not so much about our golf but I thought this an interesting view on things.

Always found it hard to warm to Williams. I acknowledge that he's put a fair bit back into the community though
-

Probably the wrong site for this, but anybody know much about golfing in Surrey, UK?

We've just had an offer accepted on a house there (near Epsom) and I'm looking to join a club. We are very close to RAC Woodcote - I know some members there who have offered to invite me in, but I suspect that may be a little bit stuffy for the likes of this kid. Cuddington and Banstead downs are also nearby with both looking like nice courses.
-

Where, JK?

I love November, it's my most social Golf month. Two golf tours and the Shootout and for me this month as club champ I have Waikato Champion of Champions.

Played out at helensville. Pretty decent country course.

We got 3rd but didn't play overly well. Heaps of free booze tho and an amazing day for it -

You're gonna be spoiled for choice MR, Surrey is stacked full of golf courses, there's Epsom itself, Chipstead is nearby, I can't really comment though as I've not played either. I have played Walton Heath which is not that far way and it's a great course but bloody tough (do NOT get in amongst the heather). However all are likely to be expensive. For the RAC I'd expect you'd actually have to join the club proper - The RAC that is not the golf club?

Try this link for a guide to local courses, not all the info you'll need for all the courses but will set you on the right road.

Just a bit of blowing ones own trumpet but got my 3rd eagle of the year on Tuesday. They've all been 3s on par 5s and i didn't think my 3inch tap in on the 2nd at gulf harbour would be bettered but it was.

Tuesday i lipped out for a 2 on the 450m par 5 13th (the wrecker) at Titirangi. Left me with about an 8inch putt for eagle on one of the better par 5s out there. Was playing with Titirangi members too so got a lot of kudos from them. Felt good. Rest of the round was just as erratic as ever!

-

First post in here for 6months...wow!

Just wanted a share a shot from the beautiful Rajpruek golf club in Thailand. Played here yesterday. Hire clubs and a 25year old thai bird as my caddy in 40degrees so things I'm not use to. Oh and distances in yards too! Took me a white to get use to it all so went 46 out (actually off 10) and then 37 coming home a couple of really good birdies including a tap in one on 548yard par 5. Not a long course at about 6500 yards off the back (which we played) but punishing if you miss the fairway or the green. Lots of water and sand. Greens hard and fast. Not sure if any at all were flat.

Has to be the flashest course I've played at. No green fee players and only can play via a member invite. Membership is 2.3million bhat and the club rooms are amazing. Had an exception meal after the round too.
