Hoping the pitch hasn't slowed up. A big hundred from Martin Guptil would be handy...
You do feel like he is due... but perhaps waiting one more game before those dead shark eyes come out might be better!

Just saw a very painful stat. We are 10th in terms of runs scored by openers at this tournament. 299. Aus first with 1020.
Think that stat is wrong. Williamson and Taylor have scored 687.... oh wait you mean named openers not the ones who have faced the majority of the second over.

Fuck fuck fuck

I stopped watching its 3am here. Can only hope Southy does a Beaver and redeems himself with a quick fire 100

The last three and a half efforts have been pretty dire, and we are only in with three narrow wins and NRR...
But despite taking the long way around they are exactly where most thought they would be: clearly fourth in a four team field, and will need to pull one out of the bag to win a semi-final. But if you gave me Aussie in a semi-final with Kane,Taylor and Boult healthy then I'd take it.

The Black Caps are starting to look like the Warriors; dumb, woefully predictable, and they've even given up on any redeeming razzle dazzle along the way.
Yet somehow there's (all but) a semi final berth...!
I’d be pissed off at this comparison if it wasn’t so true

I went to bed after 4 overs.
I was listening to Dion Nash yesterday before the game and found myself agreeing. He said that there was no point changing a winning team despite some of the performances. In hindsight I agree even more.
I would have said to Munro, "No matter what you score you are playing in the final so if you get out, it doesn't matter, you're in the starting line up, so stop worrying about your position and go and hit the damn ball"

The selections have been horrific and really exposed us. You cna't pick Munro all tournament, and then abandon him for the last three games. Crazy stuff. He was/is a chance of getting us into a winning position against a top side; it's unlikely, but playing conservative means our win is even more unlikely.
STick with a settled side, don't throw people in who are undercooked against top sides. That said, win two games and all is forgiven!
how sure are we of a spot?
The result all but knocked Pakistan out of contention for the semi-finals. For them to make the final four, they need to bat first against Bangladesh, score at least 308 and then dismiss Mashrafe Mortaza's side for 0. And if Pakistan pile up 350, they need to beat Bangladesh by 312 runs in order to qualify at the expense of New Zealand. However, Pakistan will be knocked out immediately if Bangladesh bat first on Friday.

Munro is a red herring. He's the proverbial stopped clock at this level, the big mistake was not giving Nicholls game time earlier with some minor squad rotation v the 'easier' teams.
We have another mercurial Colin in the team for a gamble on a match winning rapid-fire 50 vs a hapless dismissal.
