Knicks apparently refused to offer KD the max, citing 'injury concerns'.

They've now made their first signing - Julius Randle.

Other interesting moves: Malcolm Brogden to the Pacers, Bojan Bogdanovic to the Jazz, Ricky Rubio to the Suns, JJ Redick to the Pelicans.

Pelicans getting JJ will anger the Lakers who were making advances. But Zion, Ingram, Ball, JJ and another big looks okay.

I'm already looking forward to watching that Pelicans team. You forgot Holiday in that lineup ACTC, who is also a gun. They pick up a veteran big man and all of a sudden that's a roster that can compete for a playoff spot.

Indy also look like sneaky contenders, providing Oladipo can stay fit. I rate Brogden as a signing.

@barbarian To think this was considered a sure thing during the season:

Days like today make being a Wallabies fan seem a lot easier.

Meanwhile the Knicks still suck... 🤣

Yep, but much like the Clippers it doesn't matter who the fuck the Nets sign, they'll still be the unfashionable second team in their respective media markets.

The Rubio signing is ok for mine, as a Suns fan. We desperately needed a point guard and I don't think we were ever going to sign anyone whose name begins with a 'K'.

The Knicks appear to have be usurped in New York by the Brooklyn Nets following this Woj bomb:

Former Tall Black now Brooklyn Nets GM Sean Marks is on fire - he's signed Irving, KD and Deandre Jordan before NBA free agency has even started.

Impressive job by Marks, who took over a franchise in disarray and weighed down by ugly contracts and no draft picks. The Nets become a major power in the East for the first time since JKidd. If reports are to be believed, and Kawhai is mulling over a move to the Lakers, I wonder if this power shift pushes him away from Toronto and to the Lakers to form their own mega team. Once KD is playing the Nets will be as good as any one out East

Two more big moves - Jimmy Butler traded to Miami (Sixers get Josh Richardson), and Al Horford signs with the Sixers.

Philly now will have a starting five of Simmons-Richardson-Harris-Horford-Embiid.

I liked what Butler brought to that team, he's an alpha dog who stepped up when it mattered. A lot will depend on Simmons improving, IMO. If he does that could be a finals team.

Have a couple of days of fun, but once they name that first Wallabies squad the bad will come flooding back 😀

Butler is poison. I read a bizarre article last night that Butler was so smitten by the way the Heat sent D Wade out that he wanted to go there. Go from a team that is close to EC finals to a non-playoff team.

The Heat are a proven franchise though - Pat Riley and Spo know how to win.

Agree that personality was an issue with Butler, but unlike Kyrie he stepped up in the clutch. Without him I don't know where the Sixers get those late buckets - it's probably Embiid, but with his injury history that's hardly a comforting thing.

@barbarian Butler went to custard in the Raptors series. Dribbling around for 14-18 seconds of the shot clock, going away from the post etc.

He’s a good player but I’m not a fan and it’s been a trail of destructive locker rooms that have followed him. A poor man’s Kawhi and PG.

Right on cue, it looks like they've signed Derrick Favors from the Jazz. Look out.

Agree to disagree. He's no Kawhi, but he's IMO one of the 10 best players in the league.
