@MajorRage No, Ruiz has always been a decent operator with the fastest hands in the division and a very solid chin and was a very good opponent to get on short notice. He could have easily been given the nod in the Parker fight but Parker's change of tactics and superior fitness got him home, just.
You don't need to look body beautiful to be the best and that's why Ruiz was written off. AJ for all the muscle he carries, has a terrible gas tank which was evident against Klitschko and Takam and he was gassed very early in the Ruiz fight.
I'll admit that I thought AJ would pull away late after a good showing early on from Ruiz with him giving AJ problems on the inside early on but I didn't expect AJ to get exposed this badly. If I were AJs team, I'd stay away from the rematch and look to rebuild again but it looks like they'll chuck AJ back in with Ruiz again.
Schwarz has a very padded record and has struggled against very low level opposition such as Bacurin, Gashi and Christian Lewandowski. He somehow had a ranking of 2 with the WBO and 9 with the IBF so I guess Fury will force himself into a few mandatories with a couple of alphabet organisations which is all you could take from such a mismatch of a fight.

Not a bad win by joe , would’ve been nicer if he could’ve knocked him out ,
But did think his hands looked nice and quick , and appeared to be much more agile on his feet at that weight

@kiwiinmelb Leapai showed one hell of a Samoan chin even if he was on the receiving end of a one-sided beatdown. Good hitout for Parker imo before he moves on to bigger fights.

You guys are too kind. Joe went out and hit a punching bag for 9 and a bit rounds and couldn’t properly finish him.
He looked sharp because nothing was coming back at him. No one is talking about how good Parker was and meaning it. They’re all talking about the guy that lost and didn’t go down.

@raznomore So what if he didn't finish him off? Tyson Fury didn't finish off Francisco Pianeta before he fought Wilder but still showed his slick movement and combos he's known for. He got criticism for not stopping Pianeta but he showed in that fight that he hadn't lost his touch. Leapai was tough in there and once Parker realised that Leapai wasn't going down easily, he went back to sitting behind his jab and started to break him down slowly. Thought he could have gone to the body a bit more later on in the fight but at the same time I think he was cautious of Leapai's overhand right which he had a bit of success with.

I guess it comes down to expectations ,
I accepted some time ago , that Josephs punching power isnt what I earlier thought it might be ,
he hasnt really looked like blowing anyone away for some time ,
So with that thought already in my mind before this fight , I thought he looked better at this lighter weight,
Not sure why they fattened him up

@African-Monkey this is supposed to be the second coming and him selling himself to the US fans. Do you honestly think anyone who watched that fight went away wanting Parker up next for Ruiz or Wilder???
Not on your life mate. He needed to spark Alex out. That would have been the plan from his trainers, his management and anyone involved in his camp. No one is going to be in a rush to see him fight again.

or, having a dim view of the sport as a whole, the less dangerous he looks while still winning allows him to become a safe fight to take?

@mariner4life for the top guys he's a known quantity. They know he has the ability to be there at the end so as far worthwhile fights are concerned he won't be seen as a 'safe' option. He's not a journeyman fighter just yet and will still be considered too dangerous to chuck in with someone for a tune-up.

If chisora wins his upcoming fight , he should be fighting him next in England ( straight out of eddies mouth )

@raznomore If he had knocked him out in 1 people would have criticised him for a poor choice of opponent and who in the US was in a rush to see Parker fight anyway? Fury v Wilder didn't sell out the Staples Centre and AJ v Ruiz was far from a sell out at MSG as no-one really cares about HW boxing in the US at all. Andrade v Sulecki was the main event anyway, not Parker v Leapai.
Andy Ruiz struggled against Kevin Johnson 2 fights ago and now look at him. Parker got a good 10 rounds without any major problems which will do him good going forward.

Parker is neither American(Wilder) or Mexican(Ruiz). He is not really a known boxer in the US and the point of this fight was to get buzz going. He didn't achieve that in this fight. No one, except you and me, is talking about this fight a day later.
Your examples for non-sell-outs mean nothing mate. People wanted AJ vs Wilder in both fights so I'm not surprised they didn't sell out. Fury vs Wilder was a fight the US public had to settle for and the AJ vs Ruiz fight was AJ's first in the US, not to mention neither fighter is American* AND everyone thought Ruiz was going to be a speed bump.

This part here I'm not sure about either. I'm not in a bad mood and decided to pick on you today or anything I just don't agree. Joe needs to be forced to fight. That was a sparring match where your trainer paid your sparring partner before the session and said: "go easy and there's another hundy in it for you". You can not grow from a fight like this.

@kiwiinmelb Yep. Anything is England is better for Joe IMO. He has a rep there and put on a good show against Whyte in the closing rounds. He's more likely to get people who care about the fight.
Chisora is on the way out but going out swinging so this could be the type of war Parker needs to get some of the right people looking at him.

@raznomore Hey man no animosity at all towards you at all, rational discussion is good but yeah, I disagree about Parker needing a KO in this fight to boost his profile. His next fight is bound to be a tougher test anyway and this was his first fight of the year. Good to shake off some rustiness and get some decent rounds in imo.
He's hoping to have 2 more fights this year. He was meant to fight Molina before he pulled out so who knows, maybe it'll be him before fighting Chisora/Szpilka at the end of the year. It wouldn't suprise me if Szpilka beats Chisora however (hope he does I can't stand Chisora). Chisora doesn't like facing movers and Szpilka's movement is some of the best in the HW division. Szpilka's chin however is made of glass so it does make this fight interesting.
