SPOTLIGHT ON LATRELL SMILER-AH KIONG 💡🏉 Many of the athletes that feature on Land Rover 1st XV Rugby excel in other sports and Latrell Smiler-Ah Kiong is no different. He is chasing his hoop dreams 🏀 as well as turning out for his Hastings Boys High 1st XV and representing the New Zealand Condor Sevens secondary schools team. ⚫️⚪️ Find out more about him in the video below. We are sure he has a bright future ahead of him! 🌟
Interesting to hear he has famous cousin!

I've been trying to find a bit more info about his parents after watching that video. His parents are former Hawke’s Bay Sevens player Herman Ah Kiong and former Hawke’s Bay basketball and netball rep Cheleme Smiler. His grandfather is former (1979-1980) Magpies midfield back Wini Smiler.

@Higgins Yeah, Hastings v Rotorua is the clash of the current top two teams; and Napier v Hamilton the next two against each other. One of these four teams will take out the Super 8 title, but impossible to predict which one. Hope our Bay teams have a great day, tomorrow!

Up the 'farne. I have been following the Lindisafarne 1st 15 page there is a kid in the forwards last name is Savea. Any relation to the 7 foot Savea and the 200kg Toulon Winger?

As hard as it it is to say but congrats to HBHS on their victory away to Rotorua. We have to put aside all bias and support out cousins against outside invaders. Look forward to hearing the report from the NBHS match against Hamilton to learn of the really unlucky late against the run of the play call that gave the win to Hamilton.

Looks like the NBHS was close and could have gone any way - does anyone have a match report?

Super 8
New Plymouth BHS 1st XV 12 - 26 Hastings BHS 1st XV
Rotorua BHS 1st XV 47 - 7 Napier BHS 1st XVThe score of the first game is flattering NP; Hastings dominated all game, but handling errors prevented them from scoring more tries, more so than the NP's defence (although they weren't bad; Hastings was just much better).
Napier had another off-day it seems. Only watched a few minutes when they were already down a few tries, and they seemed to have given up already. They scored their converted try in the last seconds of the game. I fear for the Polson Banner game on 3 August. They'll be dropping on the Super 8 table, too.
Other results:
Tauranga BC 19 - 21 Hamilton BHSNo more games until the last week of July.

Bugger, after three years of consecutive losses, Palmy Boys have won the Polson Banner. They beat Napier Boys 27 - 15. A deserved win.
It doesn't seem to be Napier's season, although they play Palmy Boys again in two weeks in a Hurricanes knock-out match. I hope they can get their revenge then.
Hastings Boys are already certain of making the Super 8 final (10 August), with still one game to play against the current no. 2, Hamilton Boys, this Saturday in Hamilton.
Hamilton Boys can still be overtaken by Rotorua, who play New Plymouth on Saturday.
