CWC Game #5 Black Caps v South Africa

Nice opening in The Guardian "There are some 20 World Cup group games still to run but after New Zealand’s Kane Williamson produced an epic unbeaten 106 to overcome South Africa in a tense finale at Edgbaston, the identity of the four semi-finalists is already taking shape.
Williamson’s 138-ball masterclass on a pitch that prevented risk-free shot-making was an innings for the ages."

It was fun to watch the highlights. Williamson the man.

@Snowy bit harsh mate, that particular dismissal doesn't happen too often. Usually an edged leg glance will squirt away harmlessly.
You sure your not tilling the soil for your man Nicholls? 😉
Roscoe was unlucky
Maybe harsh on Colin for that particular dismissal, but one 50 in 17 innings I think was mentioned in his last ODI's? Nicholls is not my man at all but think he might be able to score a few more than Colin.
Yes a strangle is never much fun.

Thrilling win, and Kane Williamson deserves all the superlatives.
But our overall batting is still a weakness. It is reasonable to assume that scores of 240 will be needed to win further games in the tournament.
we will need our openers to fire come finals, we need to be about 100 run mark after 15 overs more regularly
-
I'm quite happy that we've won four games, collected a further point from a N/R and we're likely semi-finalists, with plenty of guys due runs and/or wickets. I'd expect an unchanged line-up for the weekend and if we secure another win then we can make a couple of changes for the following game and then finish with big games against Australia and England to get into finals mode.
-
Someone's butt hurt. Perhaps the real question should be why did the saffas not challenge?
-
@canefan No perhaps about it. Kane was the well established danger man. If the keeper saw a deviation/heard a noise, he's in the best position to advise the captain. If the captain decides not to review, that's on him (as it's on every captain.) Also, it was a fairly faint nick. Umpire didn't hear, no one else got excited, Kane might not have been sure. That headline just sounds like pure sore loser.

Paul Adams in shit cricketer trying to be relevant shocker.

He was no Murali or Warnie but he certainly wasn't shit.
But yeah, desperation to get a headline. Pretty sad.

Well no I just used cold hard stats to talk up Henry over Southee seeing as his average in the last four years is close to 20 runs per wicket better.
But to answer your query which you incorrectly assumed....yes, context does mean a bit to me.
Unless it's comparing latter day Southee to Henry cos then stats do all my arguing for me
....and despite what you probably assume I'm actually a massive Southee fan, you're a mod so go and trawl the archives to see me white knighting his batting. The BCs have probably never had a better opening pair than him and Boult. His time is nearing and end though I think.

Apparently his stats are only good because he doesn’t bowl at the death.
(Except today, where he bowled 3 overs in the last 9, including the final over)
