Well the Bangles have done it, quite comfortably in the end with the second highest CWC run chase in history. Looks like the Windies are gooooneeee.

Kinda feels now like we're not even at this WC as it's been so long since we played. Somehow we're still in the top 4 and if anything, our chances of remaining there have strengthened during our absence from the competititon, due to other results. We don't have any entries on the leading run scorers or wicket takers leaderboards now either. Looking forward to hopefully getting some good results in our next three games vs SA, WI and Pakistan, knocking them all out in the process.

That would do exactly that......but in saying that do SA even have a mathematical chance of making it after the start they've had ?

If they still have five games left then I'd say yes?

I switched off just after Hetmeyer got out, thinking it would be a challenge for the Bangles.

Woke up to see they'd absolutely FISTED that total in under 45 overs. The highlights were pretty good - not threatened ay all by the short stuff and Shakib is a weapon.

We've got the Bangers next, in a few days time. If they can carry over their form from this game then it could be a really interesting match-up.

You feel like a win should be enough to see us into the semi finals.

@barbarian I'm pretty happy we have them out of the way already, they'll be full or confidence after that - Shakib is all class and in great form. Should be a good game, think Aus will score too many though.

you guys are travelling pretty nicely really. Plenty of contributors.

Getting the Bangers early, and turning them over relatively easily, is looking better and better with hindsight

They are an erratic team, a bit like the Windies or the Pakistanis. You just cross your fingers and hope you don't cop them on a good day.

They have four; NZ, Aus, Pakistan and SL.

If they win all four they would finish with 11 points and should make it, providing one or more of the top four continues on to go 8-1 or 7-2. Their best bet is NZ or England begin to shit the bed and go 1/5 from hereon out.

Also not totally in their hands if NZ/Aus/England/India all begin to drop games to one another in the right sequence the top four cutoff could be 12 or 13. The cut off could be as low as 9 and NZ could qualify by beating Pakistan and losing the remainder of their games providing all other fixtures go with the favourite.

Or perhaps when the odds dictate the result? It's a real shame that thought even entered my mind.

Bit of a damp squib this world cup. Rain notwithstanding it's been a bit of a bore lately. Not much happening except we've over rated some teams and only underrated the bangles.

Hopefully the next 2 weeks throws something up

@canefan yeah, maybe the lack of nz lately, maybe there's a gulf between the top 4 and the rest at the moment.

Not sure, it just all seems to be going as scripted.

Hopefully that's the curse the tournament needs for upsets....against us, gulp🤔

@Siam there's been no real upsets of late, and the excitement around the WI has died away a bit given their results. Plenty more twists and turns left I reckon. Our game against SA tomorrow is extremely important for our chances, we are going to have a tough run into the semis.

I agree. We've played no one yet (although the close game vs the Bangles looks increasingly noteworthy). We need to get a couple of results against WI, PAK, and SA to keep the train on track
