@Chris Either one of Garden-Bachop, Smith, Marshall or McClutchie I would think.

@Chris That's for the second year of his Top League contract; so not a new contract. His contract with the Canes was only for one year, though, and he hasn't re-signed yet.

@Stargazer Boy its messy in relation to who is still playing SR with the Japan league changing dates, hard to know who is playing where, when and for how long in 2020.

@Chris Yes, it must be very confusing for all players - esp for those who signed contracts before 2019 - too. I hope their agents did a good job and that their contracts literally spell out the months/years they are signed for and not something like "the 2019-2020 top league season".

Interesting listening to this interview: https://www.radiosport.co.nz/sport-news/rugby/report-beauden-barrett-will-ditch-hurricanes-for-the-blues/

Patrick McKendry sounds almost adamant the deal is done. He will look like a big d%&k if this doesn't come to fruition. Says he heard from a very reliable source that Barrett is going to the Blues, it was also backed up by two other sources.

@Canes4life yeah he seems pretty sure,if he’s wrong you are right he’s going to look like a right muppet and lose a lot of cred as a journalist.

We've been here before. And if history repeats, then Barrett will stay with the Canes and the Blues will sign Shaun Johnson.

Not sure if Shag will be happy with having four teams in the finals. Having our players playing extra games in a WC year is not ideal.

Good old Blues, helping our NZR once again 😃

Seriously, though, travel is only a factor for the Chiefs. Everyone else should be based in NZ/AUS (barring freak results)

@akan004 On the contrary. The experience from knock out Rugby will be invaluable to his players later in the year. Only really Reiko Ioane from the starting XV has missed out.

Bloody Lions fucked that up for the Chiefs.
Travel to Argie then Oz or SA.
If we ever made it through that we’d be screwed before walking out in Christchurch.
