CWC Game #1 Black Caps vs Sri Lanka

Apart from his strange body type, Malinga looks short of pace these days
Want Guppy to go for it -

Looks like he'd be as fast as anyone emptying 2 or 3 KFC Family Buckets

With that action it still amazes me anyone can actually play him at all.
Also someone needs to tell him frosted tips are sooooooooo 90s

@MN5 a genuine GC for sure! Easy to listen to.
Let’s make the most of it before we get a summer of Aussie commentators.....and Mark Nicholas

@MN5 I still struggle with Malinga's action being entirely legal
Well he’s taken 322 ODI wickets. Probably a bit late to gripe now.

Can't ask for a more perfect start to the tournament than that.
Sri Lanka are miles off being the competitive side they once were, I thought they had young stars coming through who were supposed to be ready for this CWC?

Absolutely crushed.
Don't think we can read too much into it as we really do have the wood over a pretty poor Sri Lankan team, but, that's a dream start to our campaign.
Bowlers other than Boult taking wickets and our 3rd most important player Guptill getting some form.
Bring on the Bangles next.

Full house didn't really get their money's worth - less than an inning's worth of cricket. Went to bed after the SL innings as have the pub for UCL final at 6.30 ...
Santner definitely caught that one but the act of the catch forced his fingers into the turf bringing the ball into contact with grass. Not even sure the laws cover that? SL opener seemed destined to carry his bat once he played on and the super hi-tech bails stayed in place. Your old wooden bail would have flown off ....

Fell asleep on the couch at 6 down and woke up at 8 down, then hit the hay. Assumed when i woke that we would have won. Bloody comprehensive though, 10 wicket win and all. Good toss to win, but still need to do the mahi to get the treats. Great confidence boosters for Henry and Ferguson. Hopefully the start of another WC tear from Guppy, and as for Munro, well, a zero pressure 50 and as the saying goes 'every dog has its day'. But nonetheless it'd be good if he could play one or two of those same innjngs in situations that matter against quality opposition.

Good win, Locky was superb. Opener was actually scared of him at one stage .
Good fielding was nice to see.
We got 2 big issues with the excellent camera technology in cricket.
What to do when umpires incorrectly call a front foot no ball in real time only to see a replay of a fair delivery- happened to Locky and a west Indian. Perhaps call dead ball and re bowl?
Santers catch was fine. Camera shot doesn't account for the ball being in control ( in his hands) and touching green blades of grass. Way way different from gathering the ball on a half volley. Dumb officiating.
