HURRICANES CONFIRM ANOTHER FOUR PLAYERS FOR 2020 ROSTER
Four more players have confirmed their future is with the Hurricanes. Experienced loose forward Reed Prinsep has extended his contract through until at least 2021. The 26-year-old, who has captained the Hurricanes in 2019, has made 39 appearances for the Hurricanes since he made his debut against the Sunwolves in 2017. Powerful lock Kane Le'aupepe has also agreed terms with the club and also signed on until at least 2021. Having been called into the Hurricanes squad this year as injury cover, the 2.01m, 124kg middle rower has impressed the coaching team with his work ethic and character. The 26-year-old, who plays international rugby for Manu Samoa, made his debut for the Hurricanes against the Crusaders and has since made five appearances. The pair are joined by first five-eighth Jackson Garden-Bachop and outside back Jonah Lowe who have signed until at least the end of the 2020 Investec Super Rugby season. Garden-Bachop, 24, has made six appearances for the Hurricanes since his debut against the Jaguares last year. Lowe, 23, has been sidelined with injury for most of the 2019 campaign after a solid pre-season. He made his debut for the Hurricanes last season against the Crusaders in Christchurch. Hurricanes head coach John Plumtree believed the quartet provided further continuity for the club heading into next season. "Reed has grown each year with the Hurricanes and is establishing himself as a significant contributor on the field with his loose forward play and his leadership qualities. He continues to be a great example to others," he said. "Kane has been a really good for the Hurricanes since arriving as injury cover. We are delighted he is keen to continue his development in our environment. He's also got real size and athletic ability." Hurricanes general manager of rugby Ben Castle also expected Garden-Bachop and Lowe to play significant roles in the the future. "They are two young players who haven’t had many opportunities to date but will continue to push hard for starting spots," he said. "They have been Hurricanes for two years now and it is great they will be continuing with us." -

Uhm, this is Lowe's third year.
I'm surprised he wants to stay.
I hoped he'd go to the Highlanders, so he could get more game time. -

And they've re-signed JG-B. I'm wondering whether they're going to re-sign James Marshall and Fletcher Smith, too.
And do they already know what BB is going to do and has that influenced their decision to re-sign JG-B or decisions regarding Marshall and Smith?
I also wonder whether McClutchie is in the mix somehow; or will be, if he has a good M10 Cup season?

@Stargazer Crusaders may need a First Five if Hunt moves to the Landers chance for McClutchie or Smith ?

@Chris From a player development perspective, it would be great if the Crusaders sign McClutchie. He's like a younger, inexperienced version of Mo'unga at the moment with a lot of potential that just needs to be developed. He'd be able to learn so much from RM, probably more than from BB, who's an entirely different player - both in style and physique and who may not even be there (next year).
From a Magpies supporter perspective, I don't really care where he goes, as long as he gets plenty of opportunity to become the best player he can be - and that includes game time (and the Canes aren't usually very good at giving all their prospects game time). That will then benefit the Bay as well.

@Stargazer May not need to let anyone go considering Beauden will most likely have a year off. McClutchie will just come in for him I would say.

@Canes4life Yeah, possibly, but I prefer longer term thinking and what's best for the development of McClutchie as a player. He can't learn anything from BB if BB isn't there.

@Stargazer doesn't matter, we have the King in our coaching lineup.

@Stargazer Crusaders through Philpott,Dagg and a few other do have a strong connection with the Bay so I am sure they are watching McClutchie.

Squad so far for 2020: If we can get both Barretts, Walker-Leawere and a couple solid props signed up in addition to the below, we could be looking pretty solid next year with very little impact from the post WC exodus.
