1-0 is a great result for Spurs. Get a goal in Manchester and City have to get 3. Son does look a different player without Kane. Missed pen was critical for City - a limp pen by Aguero to be honest.
Good result for Liverpool too, I can't see Porto coming back and expect Liverpool to score at least once.

That was a big win today. Easy fixture to drop points (and I actually expected to). Some small amount of pressure on City now.
-
Interesting for city they play Tottenham twice in three days. Second leg of the champions league and then the epl fixture. That's going to be high drama as by the end of it they could be through to the semis and top of the league or their season in tatters two points behind and out of European competition.

Awesome! Ajax have knocked Juventus out of the Champions League! First Real Madrid, and now Ronaldo's lot.

@Hooroo Barca beat Man United 3 - 0 (4 - 0 agg)
Oh yes! I can see that from Kiwipies post earlier in the thread......
From the Guardian ...
"This time Messi, took the ball just past the centre circle. He saw the space ahead of him. He also saw Jones ahead of him. As the United man veered back into his path there was a nutmeg so gentle it was almost loving.
The Camp Nou let out a roar. Jones surged back gamely but could only watch as Messi jinked past the other way, teasing him the way you might tease a fond, lovable old family dog with a paper cone on its head and one good eye."

Ahhh That is brilliant!

Great finish now I've actually seen it. Spurs really lucky Aguero was a step offside from a deflection and not really sure why Llorente's goal was allowed - if you go for the ball and first contact is with the elbow then surely it is handball? Anyway quite a game - any game that is 3-2 after 20 minutes ..... Ajax v Spurs is not only an unlikely semi but could be similarly full on given how both teams play.
The TMO has taken some of the joy out of cricket when a wicket isn't always a wicket. VAR will have an even worse effect on football given the rarity of a goal and the joy or despair of it happening. I'd abolish it for that reason alone. Accept the mistakes and the ref's word is final.

As a neutral VAR added massively to the excitement for me. As a supporter (in other games) its really frustrating because the explanation is normally terrible.

You can't rely on Tottenham for fucking anything

Sounds like it was a tight away game and Citeh still butt hurt about midweek

Tight, but both teams really wasteful in front of goal and sloppy in general play. Perhaps to be expected given the emotion of Wednesday's match, but Spurs had some great chances that they really should have taken - fatigued or not.
I feel a little more positive about Yanited's prospects of nicking points midweek on the basis of Citeh's performance yesterday. However, key will be to prevent Citeh getting their routine early goal. (On a related point, it baffles me that teams have not identified that preventing Citeh's fast starts might be a key aspect of beating or drawing with them.)
