@gt12 I'd like to see them give Ardie two weeks though rest, he has had a massive workload so far this year and we have plenty of depth at openside. It will be good to give Kirifi more time in the saddle and Evans some minutes as he returns from injury.

I'd also like to see Aumua start in this one, he hasn't started yet for us and it would be good to see him put in a solid 60 minute shift - same goes for Walker-Leawere. This might also be the game they throw the no 11 jersey to the promising Rayasi.

Giving Ardie a rest seems natural and a good idea, but the canes are a bit shit without him. So, they might need to add some quality around those left behind. I still expect them to win, but I'd be coming here looking for full points.

@gt12 he needs the rest though and we defs have the calibre of players to get full points. Kirifi easily outplayed Pocock in his first start against the Brumbies so I expect him to do the same against the lowly rated Sunwolves.

@mikey07 Yeah he has real potential and deserves a crack after a solid NPC for Auckland.

22 years of age, at 1.96m and 105kg he could be a real weapon in a couple of years time as he matures. He has a big left boot on him aswell.

Looking at the rest of our schedule you would have to say they are all very winnable games (thanks to our tough start) and I expect us to win every one as well. If we do that then we may still have a chance of putting some heat on the Crusaders for the top conference spot as they could also very well go unbeaten for the rest of the season.

    Remaining fixtures (including byes):
    Bye
    vs Sunwolves (away)
    vs Chiefs (home)
    vs Rebels (home)
    vs Blues (away)
    vs Jaguares (home)
    Bye
    vs Sharks (away)
    vs Lions (away)
    vs Blues (home)

@Canes4life you have to play the Blues twice yet. They could be your bogeyman

@Crucial I'm confident we will beat them twice with the players we have still yet to come back in.

I hate to break it to you, but Collins, Cullen, So'oialo and Snakey aren't coming back.

likes to play the best player at 12 too, so those guys pining for Ardie to the midfield will get their wish

@Duluth I take this with a grain of salt. Goodes and Broadhurst suffering career ending concussions are out of the Canes hands and the likes of Fatialofa & Uhila heading overseas are personal choices. There are only so many quality locks and props in New Zealand and when guys like Lousi, Cridge etc get injuries on top of that, then it makes it bloody tough. I'm not making any excuses but you have to do with what you've got and it could be alot worse right now.

I guess the downside for the Canes heading into the bye is we've had a wave of much needed firepower sitting in the stands. Dane Coles, Gareth Evans, Alex Fidow, Toby Smith and Geoff Cridge are all quality players who will make a big difference for us in the late stages of the campaign if they can get back to full fitness. Whether that is enough to take down the Crusaders is a another question altogether.

Hurricanes Hunters line-up for their game against Japan Wolfpack (that's Japan 'A', not a Sunwolves Dev squad as has been written in some media):

    .

Look who are there: Alex Fidow and Geoff Cridge are apparently not/no longer injured!

And with the NZ U20 players unavailable, some new faces - including Tyrone Thompson - on the bench.

From a Bay perspective, also happy to see Tim Farrell back. IMO, he should have gotten the starting LH spot. Also Tom Parsons still there.

    From the media release;

The Hurricanes Hunters will have a chance to end their season unbeaten when they meet Japan A in Tokyo on Saturday.

The match is the second time the two sides will meet after the Hunters won their first encounter 52-31 in Porirua last month.

Hunters coach Darren Larsen has made nine changes to his starting XV from the last match.

Hurricanes Super Rugby squad member Peter Umaga-Jensen returns to the run on side after he scored a try off the bench at Jerry Collins Stadium.

He is joined by fellow squad members Alex Fidow, Geoff Cridge, Salesi Rayasi and Heiden Bedwell-Curtis who will captain the side.

Rayasi and No 8 Teariki Ben-Nicholas were two of the stand-out players against the Jamie Joseph coached Japan A side in their first meeting with both men scoring a brace of tries.

The Hunters bench features a number of promising players who have been involved in the Hurricanes development programme at age-group level, including former Wairarapa Bush halfback Isaac Bracewell who started in the Hurricanes Heartland Under-20 side.

"This is a massive opportunity for a large number of players who get the chance to play an international side," Larsen said.

"It also allows them to experience preparing and playing overseas alongside fully fledged professionals."
