Tips for the All Star Mile?
Shit race.... Urban Ruler and Foundry need to jump now and even if they cut straight across the track, the ambulance may still beat them home!
I think Alizee, Happy Clapper and Mystic Journey will fight it out. The latter would be a real feel good story given the horse was only bought for something like $12k.
If I was to bet I'd be looking at Grunt ($18) or Hartnell ($12). Grunt goes well 2nd up and unbeaten at Flem over 1600m. Hartnell drawn pretty sweetly and should be peaking for this prep on this run. Both at nice each way odds.

Hartnell getting up would be nice actually. Happy Clapper must be pretty fucking happy a certain other horse isn't somewhere in the field.
Amphratrite is one of those horses i always bet on because it always seems to win me money.
But yea, it's a shit race. The Coolmore isn't exactly swimming in names either.
The Slipper next week could be epic though!

Some interesting races this weekend outside of the mile.
Probabeel is over in Aus and running in the G3 magic night stakes. I think could go well and jumped on the futured at $15. Its in to $5 now and I think wet track could suit.
Our verry ellegant could also go well in the phar lap stakes a couple of races later. In fact could be a day for the wet track types - lots of money coming to Jamaican Rain early as soon as the forecast showed a lot of moisture.
Then I've also spied one thats come back over this way in Sasso Corbaro which started with Kris Lees. Won some reasonable races and is now Jamie Richards. Won first up at Otaki last month and now in at Trentham tomorrow.

I'm sick of hearing this and being sucked in by it. No more!!

Yeah seems pretty fickle eh. Looked good last start...which prob means nothing!

Recap...
Probabeel - dissapointing, just too far back in the run. Looks like needs further
Verry Ellegant - looked so anctious in yard but won well. Fickle horse makes it hard to follow. All Star Mile - mystic journey wow wee.....what a story indeed. Hartnell - solid as ever and good place money.
Jamaican rain - hurt me. Had it running through a few multis...expected better!
Was interesting watching the heavy tracks at Rosehill and Gold Coast. I think both were heavy 10 but rosehill stood up so well. GC not so much

Probabeel didn't look to cope with the off track either.

Enjoyed a day at the Gold Coast races on Saturday (until the last couple of races were called off). $76 each got us a nice table in a lounge (at the front of the room with a brilliant view of the finish) & a seafood buffet. Would thoroughly recommend.
Punting went OK, if unspectacular.
-
@Smudge i'm a member there, because Mrs Mariner hates GA. The members lounge is pretty nice, i assume you were in the restaurant there?
Didn't punt much on the weekend thankfully, so actually managed to be slightly up after getting on a roughie in Perth...
This season if you want to win money, bet on any Godolphin horse paying about $10. Sure to win. They are fucking killing it.

@Smudge nice. They looked the fucking go at Magic Millions but apparently i would have already needed to book 12 months out to get a table!
It was a feature day on Saturday but there were still a few spare tables! Can thoroughly recommend to others.

PS: If you're really keen, you can pay $85 for an unlimited beverage package . . .
I just went for two bottles of Chandon Brut during my afternoon's punting, which pretty much worked out the same anyway.

Agree - follow godolphin, dunn, stokes, mcdonald. These stables are flying at the moment

Four Group 1s at Rosehill tomorrow. I went to Slipper day last year and it was awesome (fucking terrible day on the punt though, jesus. I think the only thing i got was the token bet on Winx just to say i had something on her when i watched her run).
I've got early ones on Time to Reign and Pin Sec based purely on the expectation of a wet track. But the Slipper is open as fuck.

Cosmic force very popular given the wet track. Got smashed in from $51 after last weeks win. My mate at Snowden racing reckons Pin Sec will be hardest to beat. Ive got an early one on Anaheed at $41 so hoping puts in a good run but really tough race to pick.
Lots of kiwis over this weekend. Rosehill race 1 has Avantage and very keen to see how it measures up. Resin looks very good but keep an eye on Serene Miss. Could run a big race at odds.
Keen to see how The Autumn Sun goes too over the 2000m. Not sure it can be that far back this time on the heavy track. A few kiwis in that race including Crown Prosecutor which given it is likely to be leading or close to it and also coming back from 2400m, could be the last horse that The Autumn Sun has to get by to win. Jmac on board too!
-
Autumn Sun does it tough every time. Arrogant just pushed him all the way.
-
Cheers for the Advantage tip too

How good was that!! So awesome to see kiwi horses turn up and deliver in Aus. Really gutsy to fight back and win after resin got ahead
