Blues vs Crusaders

@antipodean trying to understand your thinking here... Are you saying if you knock the ball on and it was last played by the opposition, it should always be ruled deliberate?
-
Bloody good game. Huge defensive effort from the Crusaders 4 - 7. Dalton was disappointing and didn't look AB material at all. Though, he probably suits being on the defensive team defending in close rather than on the team with all the possession.
Awesome seeing Nonu back.
-
@Bones I'm saying that a defender that sticks out a hand and knocks the ball forward from an opposition pass should be penalised every time. It's a blight on the game when you get a blind spastic like Briant who can't see Mataele's instinctive reaction costs the attack.
-
@antipodean ahh well I wholeheartedly disagree.
-
Enjoyed that game for first game of the season.
From a Blues perspective:
Robinson went very well post-card.
Halves are still a problem - Ruru went fairly well bar one charge down. Pulu the captain from last year with an awful decision at the death lol.
Black was disappointing I thought but id like to see him at 15 instead of Collins.
I'd like to see Collins defended after this one. He. Is. Shit. Great re-signing....
Crusaders got lucky with the calls but it happens. Fucking weird both teams got away with huge crooked throws at the end - what the fuck are the assistant refs looking at.
Nonu went fairly well considering he is a 12 playing 13. Probably should have recruited a 13....
Blues need to find a way to get the ball to Rieko in space.
Blues often start promising to commence the season so the season could well turn to shit.

Hahahaha, thanks Harry Plummer you fucking loser
On his debut? Stay classy champ.
He lost you a game you should have won.
-
@KiwiMurph Yeah I'm more worried about the next 3 games tbh. Lose next week and our season is already in danger of turning to shit after round 2 where the heads start dropping and key players start getting 'injured'.
We lost a game we probably should have won but shit happens (a lot for us haha), move on to the next one.

Not a deliberate knock on? WTF is the clown smoking?
It's not a deliberate knock on. How many penalties are we gonna have if we start penalising people for accidental knock ons?
It is deliberate because it didn't go backwards and he didn't catch it. That removes any "judgement".
Under that ruling, every knock on is deliberate.
You might want to learn the laws. A player in possession can knock on ffs.
Right but if a player in possession loses it they didn't catch it and the ball didn't go backwards. So if those are the only two criteria, every knock on is deliberate.
The matter in hand is defenders knocking the ball on interfering in passes to players in space. This isn't difficult to understand.
If you include possession as a third criteria you still have every knock on not in possession as a penalty (which seems stupid).
It's only stupid to stupid people who think that outcome with Mataele simply throwing out a hand to interfere with the pass isn't deliberate.
But you literally said in your earlier post: 'It is deliberate because it didn't go backwards and he didn't catch it. That removes any "judgement".' Now you are saying people are just stupid for not agreeing with your judgement. So actually you are in favour of judging intent. It's just you think in that situation (and perhaps, in most situations) intent is trivial to judge.
Most referees don't judge based on intent. They judge based on whether the player has a genuine chance of regathering the ball. Mata'aele didn't so should have been penalised based on precedent. However, if you do judge on intent then I think the call was correct as he was trying to knock it backwards. If that makes me stupid, whatever.

Standard for the cantabs. He missed less than Richie.

Richie was terrible, but Plummer gifted is that win at the end.

Ha ha funny @Kirwan weak weak losing blaming the ref.
Grasping straws to be a good team.
This will be a good team eventually but your fucking piss weak arse blaming the ref is pathetic. You may as well be @Canerbry
The ref isn’t above criticism, and he made many errors. It was so bad even TJ mentioned it on the commentary.
It was a factor in the loss, which sucks when you have to cop two penalty trys.
Of course the outcome is in our hands. But when you are playing the best team in the competition the least you can expect is a level playing field.
If it makes you feel better, the decisive factor was Collins. That try he let in was embarrassing, and he murdered several other opportunities
